"First look at #StarTrekDiscovery with @SonequaMG as First Officer Michael Burnham and #MichelleYeoh as Captain Philippa Georgiou."

That communicator, at least what we see of it here, looks 'older' than the original, which is a good sign. It also looks to be black and gold, which is another good sign for me.
Fingers crossed.

I can see that, but it's not the one seen on screen.

↑ Yikes, that is not as pretty as the one I made.

I'll be posting a full write up of the story behind the decals (long story short, the guy sent me them free), but needless to say, after owning it for five years, my mug is now complete. :D

The accessories are cool (an action figure that comes with a cup of tea - only in Star Trek). :)

One minor thing I spotted:

The type 2 phaser is a boomerang, and not a cobra.

Just to be clear with my post, I meant some point soon (though being ambiguous about the time would also be a great joke at DST's expense, so I'm going with that lol).

I can't deny it - I want it badly!

Yeah you're right. It seems to be a mixture of the two. This is a really incredible design in that sense. In fact, I'll go as far to say that it makes the whole refit thing make a lot more sense overall, if the ship went from TOS, then was modified into the Phase II version, and then became the Refit from TMP.

And I agree with you on the last point as well, I'd love a big one. Earlier this week, I was watching some videos and reading some reviews on what I believe is a new model kit of this Phase II Enterprise from 'Ugh' models (which are anything but that, in terms of quality, from what I've read). This version is a tiny bit different from the soon-to-be Eaglemoss version (right away, I see that it has the TMP-style deflector dish), but that's due to there being no true 'canon' version:

The decal variation included is amazing with that as well. Wish they made a pre-painted version!

EDIT: Actually, this is as close to canon as it gets, and well, the dish is up for interpretation:

"The first time any man's freedom is trodden on, we're all damaged." - One of the finest scenes from any TV series, ever.

People have opinions, and they have their own minds. This is an open forum, where all of us with very different opinions come to seek out something that we all love and share, Star Trek. Some of us like only some of it, while others like all of it, that's fine. How does it affect you personally if someone doesn't like what you like?

And also, so what if people are judging Discovery before it comes out (which to be clear, I haven't seen anyone do on these forums - perhaps there's confusion occurring due to browsing multiple Star Trek websites at the same time)? People like to voice their opinions in order to provoke discussion, which is the very point of a forum in the first place. No one should ever feel pressured not to give an opinion on something as trivial as a toy spaceship, or a TV series.

Finally, we are ALL Star Trek fans here as well. The very name - Trek Toy - supports that we're a particularly hardcore set of fans, as we not only watch the shows, but also collect the merchandise as well. But even so, I can't think of one single franchise - not even Star Trek, which I'll say right now I'd be lost without - that I love completely. Examples:

Star Trek: A large chunk of Voyager and Enterprise, and the JJ-verse.

Game of Thrones: Some scenes in season's 4 and 5 were either far too graphic (Karl Tanner's speech, specifically the background, or anything in Dorne from season 5).

Alien: Resurrection, and the standard version of Alien 3 (love the extended cut though).

Halo: Halo 4 and 5's aesthetic is something I can't stand, especially because Bungie's designs were so well thought out and gorgeous.

To reiterate what Daysleeper said in his big post, just because something carries the name of something I love, doesn't mean I'm going to like and give my support to it.

If it bothers you that someone doesn't like one aspect of something, or that they're upset that a model they've paid a lot of money for hasn't been put together as well as they'd expected, then I'd suggest going back to age 10, and living the next 7-8 years over again.

In short, other than personally insulting someone (which to be clear, discredits you instantly), let people be free to say what they like. if anything and at the very least, it'll allow you a better insight into their mind, and their way of thinking.

Now with that said and done, I'm going to go back to posting how I usually post. Ship pictures, general news, and updates on Discovery good or bad.

This video has been making the rounds in my various feeds. It contains possible spoilers if the rumours are true, so consider that fair warning:

Obviously there's no way to corroborate any of the rumours presented, but if they're true, then it paints a really dreary picture, and I have a lot more respect for Bryan Fuller than I already did.

Update:

9 days remaining, it's at $410,000, and they've revealed the final stretch goal of $500,000: Remastered HD footage!
Seriously, they'll have Doug Drexler himself working on this:

I really am getting the impression that the stars seem to be aligning for this thing, unbelievable. :)

#88600 Toy Fair 2017

Posted by Jay K on 20 February 2017 - 05:54 PM

I saw an exchange on the DST Facebook where someone asked them about Star Trek and whomever was answering questions for DST got defensive and was answering pretty much like the Q&A. No real info other than some snarkyness.

Always hated that about them (I say them, but I think you all know 'who' I mean). The contrast between him and the guy who runs NECA's social media accounts, or Ben Robinson - hell, even Eaglemoss' customer service people on their facebook page, is night and day.

Nice that they did have stuff there, but a shame we can't see it. I've said it for literally years now, but when it comes to promoting their products (PR basically), DST is absolutely rubbish at it.

Put it this way, I'd be totally up for another Type 7 (screen accurate) in pack 5 or so. :D

And finally, the stern snowglobe:

Going to send them an email regarding the blob, purely because of the price (not something I'd consider a big deal usually, but these are really expensive). The spelling error on the Type 7 I can deal with though, as the rest of it is perfect. I love the different colour shade on its keel.

It's a lovely pack if you can get the price knocked down. The box it came in is just that now as well, a box - no longer a sleeve. :)
