It looks pretty great, even if its just as a prop replica. The Wand Company is just awesome.

I've seen people making the comments that a bluetooth comm badge would be awesome, and somewhat practical.

A TOS Communicator is awesome, and I probably will get it as a prop replica, but its not even remotely practical to carry a phone, and this.

Hopefully now the they've done the TOS Phaser and Communicator, we can move on to TNG stuff, and not get mired down in TOS like DST is.

Would also love to see a Assault Phaser from the Wand Company.... I refuse to pay the 500-700 people are asking for the Master Replicas version.

For it being my favorite Phaser, I'm surprised I didn't remember that one.

Okay, they can make the Assault Phaser, THEN move on to TNG.

I've only just come across this now - a video of the prototype in action from the Verge:

If I had the money, I'd probably get this in a flash. Lovely thing.

Bumping because I'd love to hear some thoughts from anyone who bought the communicator. I've got the money spare right now, and I'm so tempted to get one after watching a few videos...

I just received mine the other day.  I don't plan on using it as a Bluetooth device (yet), so I haven't done anything with that functionality--instead, I've just been enjoying the effects.

Make that REALLY enjoying the effects.

I had the Diamond Select communicator, and this is light years better than that (mainly: I like how the dial moves without making noise, and I like the audio clips and effects).

Just got it today, and yeah, it's amazing! Showed it to my Dad earlier (he's not a Trekkie, but he does love the old series), and he was delighted with it. He's now considering getting one to use everywhere. :D

I've had mine for about a week and a half.  I've been carrying it with me, but have only talked on it a few times.

I love it a lot!  It really looks and feels great.  I have noticed a delay after flipping open the grid before the caller is able to hear me answering....but that's not a huge deal.

I really want one, but can't justify the cost. I wouldn't actually use it, but it makes a damn fine prop replica.
