I am thinking of building a transporter room. I am trying to calculate the measurements out, I scaled the measurements from the Franz Joseph technical manual. It seem a little large the overall diameter is 16 inches. Anyway after printing out a mockup for sizing it doesn't look as off as I thought it would. If anyone knows of any other sources for measurements of the transporter let me know.

Hey, that looks like it will be the right scale. Wouldn't it be smaller, if you matched the half pads to the whole ones?
I was considering doing one of these with a Playmates Transporter Pad as a base. Should be able to wire a few extra lights and get a full transporter effect. What were you going to do for the background?
I like it, and would like to do the same...

I scaled it down a little bit, I'm not sure which is more accurate but I really don't want it to be quite that big. It's now a little over 14 inches in diameter. I am going to start going through some photos just to make sure but I think I'm going to go with this size.

Making Progress....

I still have a lot to do, but I just finished the pad and the back wall and couldn't resist setting them up to see how they look together with some figures.

It's going to be made with foamboard, the parts you see in the photo are printed and laminated to give it a glossy shine and will be illuminated from behind.

Oh wait! It's a TNG style transporter! That was a close one...

Looks fantastic though! Great work! If I was more into TNG I'd be longing for that too....

I am planning to do both, their both very similar structurally. I decided to do TNG first since I already have the bridge scene for the TOS figures.

It looks awsome...but in my opinion it looks just a little big....like the pads do....I could be wrong, or the angle...but I don't think they are that big...I think they should just be a little smaller if you are going for precise scale...but I'm not sure.

It looks like two people could fit on each pad from the angle you took the pic. but it looks AWSOME none the less...

Yeah I'm still not quite sure about the scale. I'm going to for now go with what I have since I already got these parts made but I think I would like it to be a little smaller not so much for scale but for making it take up less space. I think I could go a little smaller and it would still look ok.

You should be able to overlay the TNG pads over the TOS ones, should you use lights, they original pads and background could light through the TNG. This too could save room...
Looks awesome nonetheless.

It's mostly finished, there are certainly some parts I would like to be smaller and I think I got the carpet color off a little.
