McFarlane isnt a kids toy company, so Discovery is just fine with them.

They make Walking Dead figures, which is a show thats far less family friendly than Discovery, who worst offense is saying fuck.

Todd Macfarlane has no qualms about going all out with every variation of character and zombie in The Walking Dead. I truly dont think that marketing to children will factor into the equation, even though I do know of kids that like zombies too. Family friendly is a bit of an abstraction in this day and age and kids now days are more interested in tablets, smartphones and computer games.

Has anyone picked up some of McFarlanes Construction Sets? If so... what would you think about A Discovery Construction set?

And they might be more likely to watch a streaming service than their stuck-in-the-60s, uptight parents.  B)

It'd probably look great with Minimates.

If McFarlane did construction sets in the vein of their Walking Dead / GoT sets, we would be looking at highly accurate, detailed minifigures that aren't generally articulated and that sometimes are a little too small for all those details, but still, impressive minis.

If they did them in the vein of current cartoon-based sets like Rick & Morty, South Park, Stephen Universe, or Five Nights at Freddy's, well, they'd have to be stylized or something.  But the background sets would still be highly accurate.

I would bet they'd go the first route.  And that would be cool.  But their bricks are a lot harder to snap together which makes them less fun to put together, plus the inability to pose the minis at all.  Still, the accuracy would be cool.

But, to be honest, I think I'd rather that any Trek brick sets be left to continue in the Mega Construx line to go along with those awesome TOS sets we got, and the recent single minifig pack of Picard and Borg.  In case anyone didn't know, there's a wave 2 of the "Heroes" single pack figures from Mega coming and it has Amok Time Spock/Kirk in it.

Yeah, it looks like the construction set category is still held by Mattel/MegaBloks. Todd might snatch that up given the chance.

I'd be intrigued to see if McFarlane would try a ship if they did get the license to make construction sets.

Is there anything keeping them from doing an electronic ship? It seems like they've got all of DST's categories. Well, not the much sought-after kitchenware and granite categories, of course. Those are keepers.

Dunno, they didn't mention vehicles.

I meant a construction vehicle like what Mega Contrux makes. McFarlane's construction sets are usually pretty accurate, and super detailed. Would love to see them try a vehicle.

I'd be down with a shuttlecraft, runabout, or Scorpion from Nemesis. Anything I can display with my Minimates really.

Id not be into sets from McFarlane. Construction sets have to have a certain styalised quality to them and mini construction sets that look identical to a pre-built playset? I dont see the point.

Lego would be my ideal choice for Star Trek but since that isnt likely to happen, Mega Construx I hope return with a few Discovery sets.

I'm definitely excited to get some Discovery action figures!

I'm hoping that Burnham has her post episode 3 hairdo as that's most representative of her look throughout the series. I just worry that McFarlane might have started referencing episode 1 and 2. But, since the release of these figures is still a year off (!) hopefully there's time to adjust. I hope she comes with a phaser, tricorder, and away belt. One thing that now seems odd (spoilers for episode 2)

Spoiler

I'm hoping that they are planning more figures now, so we get two new figures every few months. Keeping that in mind, I'd love to see:

Wave 2:

Saru with tricorder, phaser, and belt.

Tilly with tricorder, phaser and belt.

Wave 3 (hopefully the series is SO successful they release more figures at a time):

Ash Tyler with phaser, belt, tricorder and phaser rifle

Voq with Klingon weapons

Captain Lorca with phaser, belt, tricorder and phaser rifle

Harry Mudd with rifle, and suit with helmet from "Magic to make..."

Wave 4:

Stamets with tricorder, phaser and belt

Captain Giorgou with phaser and storage locker with telescope

L'Rell with Klingon weapons

Torchbearer in Klingon Space Suit with weapon

I mean, I'm skeptical like all fans that we'll get past two figures but I HOPE we get a nice big line.

Nice list JonWes... if anything can be gleened from the poll...  looks like most members are looking forward to something from Discovery... the big "No" category went up to 3, but then someone decided to retract their vote...
