Would say yes Trek is back (though among fans it never went away) the new movie did really well and my wife and I saw it twice because I/we liked it, and I'm a TOS fan. But it's a whole new parallel universe with all new strange new worlds to seek out. But its no good now my left and right brain are at war between the movie and TOS... LOL. PS: I bought the new Enterprise model.

Hey, basically the picture there i believe is the prototype for the DST original ship and not the HD version. the Original version has minimal detail on it and looks good but could have done with having a bit more texture on the Hull - i'd wait for the HD version seeing as that will have the grids on the saucer and the light up squares around the saucer section. I think Chuck also said that they were going to change the orange bits on the ends of the nacelles.
Are you saying the one at the StarTrek.com link is just the old one? Because the picture at that link (even if the prototype) does show more details on the hull, and says coming out 8/3/09 so I suspect that is supposed to be the HD one ? I guess it's a pre-order.

So here's the finished painted up version - I also changed the handle configuration (think it looks better). I went with a metallic charcoal grey for the back and front body parts to contrast with the black handles in the rear and bottom. Also found a concave piece for the front that I liked better - off of an old desk lamp.

Just received a Polar Lights USS Enterprise (TOS version) and was pleasantly surprised it contained variant parts for Cage, WNMHGB, and TOS. I didn't know that.

I like the original series USS Enterprise because I as just a little kit then and loved it, and now I am a big kid and love it.
PS: Did the new altenate universe NCC-1701/XI get left out ?
