Well.... Captain Janeway's ship is finally going to get the respect it deserves in my collection. I just ordered from England the Revell of Germany 20" Voyager model... It features complete shuttlebay interior with one shuttle. It is a VERY accurate representation of the quick and nimble lady... I have already mixed my colors for the airbrush and I am counting the days for the Royal Air Mail to arrive!!!!

That sounds awesome. Do you have a link to this kit to check out?

Its the old Monogram kit JMW326.... which was pretty good...but Revell haa upgraded it and made it more accuarate...mainly this being the windows (they were wrong on the original release.)

It might just be that I'm too used to looking at my Playmates Voyager, with it's distended saucer belly and all that, but the Revell ship always looked a little wonky to my eye - and that's comparing it to numerous CG art and game models, over the years... not direct comparisons, mind you, just a gut feeling that things like the curvature of the spine, or the depth of the upper saucer were slightly off...

Can anyone comment with authority on it's accuracy?

It is said in the modeling forums that the Revell/Monogram is the best approximation for the original filming model to date....and I generally agree with that...it has a few problems but nothing major. Just like the Defiant from DS9 ..when the ship went cg a few liberties were taken so there can br some debate as to what the Defiant and Voyager actually should look like....I almost always like the look of the filming models better...except in thr case of the Nemesis E...cg was much better imho.

Thanks. I actually have the old one that I am pretty happy with. But if I come across a good deal on the new one I may grab it.

You can get them off ebay for about 50.00 usd shipped.... and as I said..it is more accurate and comes with a shuttle bay interior, shuttle, and more clear parts for lighting than the old one.

Over the past couple of weeks I have accomplished a lot on the Voyager.....She is almost completely painted and ready for decal work...... I hand mixed all the colors to get them as close to the original studio model as possible... She looks a bit gray here but is actually a bit more blue.... but just very faint.

Well...... she is almost complete..... I applied the whopping almost 150 decals..... I really am happy with this kit and am happy to add her to my collection....IMHO she is a fine kit.... I still need to paint some details on the sensor palettes and paint the windows ( Not looking forward to the daunting task of the windows.)

I think I fell in hetero-man-love with you, George, the moment I saw those specular reflections.

For both the white and black windows, buy some gundam paint pens. I'll make easy work of them with no need to mask.
