Man, you're great at this!

Incidentally, wouldn't this thread be better served in the Figures or the Props section? It's not exacltly a ship, is it?

As I say, fantastic work!

Set pieces such as chairs, consoles, walls etc. fall into the ship catagory since they are parts of a ship. smile.gif

Been a little busy so haven't done too much, but I hope to finish this Tuesday or Wednesday. Don't worry the final version won't be this color.

Well this small little mountain of plastic represents my first ever attempt at mold making.

If all goes well (I figure about a 50% chance) I'll have several Klingon chairs very soon.

Wel it didn't go perfectly but it wasn't a disaster. I think there might be a few problems in some detail but I think I can probably sand them out of each one. The first casting is curing now, I'll take it out in about 15 minutes.

Well it's not the best result but I guess it's OK for a first try and a good learning experience. There was a small leak and one or two areas where it warped just a little. I will have to figure out if it's better to continue to work with this mold or make a new one.

That looks pretty good aside from the warping on the back of it.

Actually the back is pretty good the photo makes it look a lot worse than it is. The real problem is in the front it pushed in a little, but I think I can make it look like it got kicked or something and with a weathered look I think it's definitely usable. I'm not sure yet if I should use this mold or make another. I went with a brush on method and now I'm thinking a solid mold might be a lot better.

Heres some photos to show the detail better.

That does look pretty good for a mold casting first attempt.

OK, I worked with the mold a little to reduce the parts that warped. Most of the defects in the mold are in the seat area and will be covered by the seat cushions. I think I'm OK with using this mold. I've already spent way too much making these and I can make them work with a little sanding.

Here's the second casting:

Thanks! I know there not perfect, but it is a Klingon chair and hopefully it will have a roughed up kind of look. I want to keep these at a reasonable price and without spending too much on them.
