I'm glad to see a familiar name Mrs. Shinzon! I always loved reading your posts. As a sociologist, I always wanted to transport you on over to Indianapolis to give a few lectures for our gender courses!

I'm also coming from the AA forums. I lurk a lot more than I post but, the atmosphere here does seem more "friendly". I feel like the reason they did away with the forums at AA was because of all of the negativity. They, of course, wouldn't want potential customers reading about: paint defects, can't make release dates, arm fell off out of the package, body re-use, 2000th Kirk, etc. It's good to have a place to talk about Trek and I love to talk about action figures.

Hello all,
I also wandered over here once AA went down. Over there I never really posted much as Chancellor G, but the people over here don't seem to be so cut throat all the time so time to jump in right? I've been collecting almost my entire life, mostly ships and trek tek. "I offer a toast. The undiscovered country...the future"

Well, I have the same name I had at the AA/DST boards. Granted, as Thomas E. Johnson and others pointed out, one of the reasons I occasionally "left" for awhile was the senseless negativity that seemed to consume Trek fans in the ugliest way.

I looked at TrekBBS but I never signed up there, it seemed like it really was everything that was wrong with the AA/DST forums Trek section, only magnified several times with larger egos and a larger lack of respect for people. I realize that not everyone there was like this, but the people who were seemed so obnoxiously arrogant that I didn't want to sign up for such a forum.

In truth, I like ALL Trek, I even like Star Trek V which is considered highly unpopular, and I'm also a fan of all of the TV shows, even Enterprise, although there are things that I dislike about it. However, that did not stop me from watching it, nor did it stop me from wanting a third, fourth, and even fifth season.

Oh and before I forget, Thomas E. Johnson, I love your new custom title, of course I also loved "Keeper of all knowledge" as well. wink.gif

Its the title that the forum program gave me, I didn't make it up. I'm with Alex. I love all Trek. I haven't logged onto the TrekBBS in over a year now. Just haven't had the ambition to wade through all the negativity in order find interesting threads or posts.

Well we aren't a large operation here, but I think in this case the old saying "quality over quantity" is very applicable. We might have a billion posts every day, but what is said is usually well thought out and civil. Its something that I wished had happened on the AA/DST forums over the years and never did.
