Hey folks,

I'm finally making some progress on my custom bridge. Spock's console and the helm are made of cardboard, but I've decided to go for styrofoam (is that what it's called in English?) instead. I made the captain's chair today. It's obviously not finished yet, but it's a good start! I'll re-do the helm as well as other consoles, until I (hopefully) some day have a complete bridge.

Styrofoam in America, Polystyrene anywhere else.

Great work!

Thanks. Here in Germany it's called Polystyrol. Anyway, that stuff seems to work pretty well.

That looks great! I like the captains chair. Not sure if you noticed but I had a thread a while back where I was working on resizing and upping the resolution on the paper models. Anyway I noticed the PDF file I posted is expired so I will repost it here just in case you may find it useful.

Some progress. I've finished the basic version of the helm console (still unpainted and without details) and the pedestal of the helm & captain's chair. The turbolift-door-part is also new.

The other day, I even had an idea of how I could make the chairs. So I tried to build a first draft (unpainted and without details). The backrest will be a little bit higher once i add the black part.

And yes, it is made of...

... a plastic spoon.

Just a suggestion for the base of the chairs. After working on my 3D modeled chairs I realized the shape of the base is very close to golf tee's if you combined the wide end of two of them and the feet are very close to the pocket clips on the cheap Bic pen caps. Not sure scale wise how this would work out but might be a good option.

Thanks, great idea. The chair above was mainly intended to find out whether or not I could use the spoons. I didn't pay much attention to the base. But I've taken a look at the bic pen caps and some golf tees, and you're right. Gotta check if it's in scale though.

Update: I found some tees that are shaped like the chair bases. They get wider at both ends, the only thing I'd have to do would be cut off the spikes on the lower end. I'll check if they're in scale. Thanks for the tip. smile.gif

There is another item that can be used, albeit more expensive. I tried casting it but had trouble figuring the best method. I will show a pic when I get home, it's the Hallmark Spock, probably the Uhura too

Some progress on the chairs. I've used the suggested golf tees and the BIC-pen thingies (thanks for the tip, s8film40). Works well & looks good, I think. The golf tee is a little on the wide side, but imho still usable. The paint job is pretty sloppy though, but I wanted to paint it quickly to see what it looks like. Will correct the sloppy bits once I've bulit more chairs and start to paint them all...

Not finished, yet, due to a lot of work and moving in with my girlfriend. I'm planning to work on it some more next year. But it won't look near as superb as your bridge.

You'd be surprised...the bigger the scale, the more the details have to be attended to and the more tha faults show up
