AWWWWWW MAN! I have always wanted one of thse MR props, A comic store had the FC Phaser for years, and they used to let me go in and hold it from time to time, i wish i had that much money to get one of these!

well... in all honesty, since there are very few mass marketed (cheap) toy lines left to collect anymore I've been saving a bundle and so, an Item like this is really not as much of a burden as it might have been in the past.

I have an MR TOS Tric, a Klingon Disrupter and the Assault Phaser. This is easily my fav of them all!

I got mine but have not had time to get it out of the box. I'll pull it out tonight and take some photos.

This was a serious one-off for me in terms of money, but I think I'd consider selling some stuff from my other hobbies in order to get an accompanying Phaser. Perhaps a reissue of the MR First Contact one, or a DS9 version, or even a Dolphin.

Hopefully they'll make something else first, or 2 years will pass. biggrin.gif

Received my Mark IX Tricorder yesterday.

It's quite heavy ... all metal body (except the battery cover on the back, which is plastic) and came in a nice cushioned box.
The main document/booklet comes in a sliding (on each side) foldout format - the left fold-out illustrates some tric. technical facts and the right fold-out panel shows a photograph of Brent Spiner autographing the plaque.

Unlike MR's ST prop plaque, the aluminum plaque slides into a black stand / holder (the MR uses an adhesive peel & stick)

The tricorder lighting effects are brilliant ... just like Las Vegas strip at night

For those who are still seeking to buy any available returned Mark IX Tricorders (hoping to get a discount) from eFX, it looks like you will be out of luck ...
This message was posted today from eFX directly:

Hi All!
I have been getting a lot of emails in regards to the returned units. I would like to make it clear that these units are NOT for sale. We will not sell these units as "seconds" or at a discount. We have established an editions size and that will be the number that are out there. If we were to sell these defective units, that would theoretically increase the edition size, even though they do not have plaques.
thanks for your understanding. . .

Returned? Because of defects?

does anyone have to make said returns? it seems more exclusive, if there are no defects to be taken into account!

When I open/close the lower panel, the lights flicker a bit on the lower panel itself. It will also do it when I move the tricorder sometimes. Does anyone else have this 'problem?'

Yep.

The lower panel LEDs are energized through the hinge, and mine is a bit loose, so if mess w/it the LEDs will flicker. It will also do this if I turn it upside down and allow it to "hang" it will flicker too.

The hinges are my biggest concern on this piece.
