My Company was nice enough to buy out a theater for the 3:00 showing yesterday so I got to see the new Indy flick. So here is my spoiler free review of the movie.

First: It was realy good. Not my favorite Indy movie but very good.
I would rank them as such:
1.Temple
2.Raiders
3.Kingdom
4.Crusade

For the movie I think they did a good job bringing Indy into a more modern setting than we are used to. This one is set in the fifties and Indy is definatley older. Harrison Ford pulls it off well. The only thing that was a little off at times was the dialog. Ford is getting older so at times his delivery of lines may not be as quick as they used to be but he still did a great job. They let you know more about Indy's back story which is pretty interesting. There are a few surprises that harken back to the previous movies. Even Shia Lebouf did a realy good job and the movie wasnt over saturated with him like Transformers was. Shia and Ford played very well off of each other. Now there were a few elements of the story that I am still not sure fit perfectly together (especialy in an Indy film). But overall it was a good, fun, adventure that helped me escape from reality for a couple of hours. I realy enjoyed it and will be seeing it again this weekend. If you are an Indy fan I recomend seeing it on te big screen at least once.

Jmw, how could you have Crusade at the bottom of the list?! smile.gif

I just saw Crystal Skull today and it was great. I really don't see what some are complaining about. It kept me entertained for the entire two hours. I agree about the dialog, but after a certain point I didn't notice the dialog issue again. The problem seemed to be in the front half of the movie. I would like to get an authentic Indy hat but found out they are $400!!!

It doesnt mean it was a bad movie, it is just my least favorite. It was a good movie and I did enjoy it. wink.gif

I took my wife to see Crystal Skull today. She really enjoyed it. After getting to see it a second time it was even better. It is just a really fun movie to see.

I forgot to mention, I am fine with this new kid becoming Indy if that is the case in future movies. He did a great job and I felt had that Harrison Ford humor and delivery in the film.

I saw the movie on saturday and thought it was very good. I need to see it again to give a better opinion of it though. It was rather fast paced in some places and if you didnt pay good attention it was a little hard to keep track of the story line. Right now i would place it at the bottom of the list of the four movies, but that doesnt mean it was bad by any means.

Despite the more sci-fi story (as opposed to the religious), I thought it was very much in line with the other films. How old did Harrison Ford look? Anyhoo I thought it was a solid story that had all he typical Indy action that Ive come to expect. Has Harrison/Lucas/Spielberg said that this would be their last film?

The word is Ford said he is signed on to do another one as long as it doesnt take that long to get it going.

JMW, how can Crusade be your least favorite Indy movie and Temple your most favorite? I always thought Temple kinda destroyed the franchise. That is untill Crusade came along.

I saw this Thursday night, and well I'm torn about it. I mean I like it and then again I don't. Harrison Ford is great in that role and it was Indy there on the big screen, but in some ways I feel I was attending two movies. Not to get into spoilers, but I found some stunts too ridiculus (jungle vines??) and some actors seem to be wasted in the story (somebody that showed up mid movie).

Maybe I will warm up to it more, as I plan to see it again soon.

Somehow I just know that I am going to regret this, tongue.gif but how did it destroy the franchise? I mean other then Kate Capshaw being in it screaming every 10 minutes?

Easily. Crusade just seemed to lack something to me. It didnt quite feel right. I did just watch all of them again and I guess that my tastes have changed some since I saw them years ago so I now have to amend the order of my list.

It is now.

Raiders
Crystal Skull
Temple
Crusade

I just saw KOTCS for the second time yesterday w/ my 79 years young Mom who has loved all the movies. I have to say I enjoyed it more the second time. The slow parts didn't seem as slow for some reason.

My rankings:

1. ROTLA (it was my Star Wars)
2. LC
3. KOTCS
4. TOD

I love them all but TOD was just a little too dark for me. I get uncomfortable when kids are hurt or in danger in movies.

I have seen it twice now, and i have decided on my rankings.

ROTLA
LC
KOTCS
TOD

I wasn't that crazy about the Sci Fi angle in KOTCS, and i agree with the last poster about TOD being too dark. ROTLA and LC 's dealings with biblical artifacts were the most exciting.

I realy liked the dark aspect of TOD (not that I like kids getting hurt or anything like that). I thought it set the tone to be a different movie. I always felt that Last Crusade was to similar to Raiders. It was like they were trying to capture the magic of the first one. So I guess that is why it always sat low on my list. To me the Difference between the biblical aspect VS the Alien aspect are not to much different. They are both paranormal and thus far neither have been proven one way or the other. I think the semi alien theme of this last one also fit the time period better than yet another religous artifact. Durring that time people were afraid of "Commies and Aliens" and this movie played on it pretty well.

I guess i found Raiders and the Last crusade as more plausible than the alien senario. Yes, i do think your right about the 50's being a time when commies and aliens were what scared folks. Spielberg didnt even like the TOD storyline, but went along with it because Lucas liked it. I still like TOD, just not as much as the rest, with KOTCS only slightly better than TOD.
