Okay then mate (we say 'mate' in Australia, yes it's true) - I think its now time for me to say wait just one darn minute!

1) You 'have' someone at playmates.  What are you implying?  I'm intensely curious and maybe even a little sick with jealousy.

2) You were invited to be on Toy Hunter?

3) Awesome.

4) List several reasons why.

LOL! We say mate in the UK too. At least me and my friends do,dunno if it's a regional thing. Meet someone in the street and it's,ayup mate, you arigh-ight?? That's the Midlands for ya,lol!

Why,I have no idea what you are referring to sir! LOL! It's just someone who gives me info whenever I ask,so I thought I might ask about this too,at some point. My Seaquest....quest,LOL....is slowly loosing it's appeal. The curse of a short attention span is at it yet again. But I DO have some Trek stuff I wanna know so I'll throw in the Seaquest stuff there.

I wasn't invited to be on the show,I was begged to be on the show. He said I just HAD to be on the show,to come to the UK so I could take him to the pub for a pint and packet of crisps. CRIKEY,he's cheaper than ME!,was my first thought. And I talked with him,and his wife, every day at NYCC in October, both this year and last, and I told him that if you can give me dates, times or a schedule I'd do my best to be there. But they,Travel Channel, just kept mucking about and came up with nothing. I hope he got sorted and had a good time. I'll ask him when I e-mail him again to ask about some other stuff too.

What was awesome exactly? lol!

Several reason why?! Is this site R or PG13? I'm gonna pretend there are families on this site and say it ain't suitable to name even ONE reason why,LOL! Well,ok,Gremlins just 'cos she's cute. Phew, off the hook. lol.

One thing I wanna know when I do my little search is about the ships. What made it to prototype stage and what was just on the drawing board.

See,always on topic.....eventually....LOL!

Excellent - that clears up a few things.  I watch this show called the Mighty Boosh and the use "All Right" as "Hello".  Very weird to us Aussies.

You must have some kinda crazy collection my friend to get that Toy Hunter guy so hot and bothered!  Though a packet of crisps and a pint is just about all you get on the average outing with me too lol!

Now here's the part where you listen very carefully...

If you have some kinda inside contact at Playmates then you must pursue this Seaquest to its full conclusion.  Barring that, I will fly over to you and I can go undercover in the Playmates office.  I'll say that I'm the 'Articulation inspector'.

Seriously dude, very cool.  I am rightly impressed (which is quite an easy feat, I can tell you!)

Ships on the drawing board?

Seems kinda bone headed that the 1701-A never came out from Playmates.  I'm sure they would have done an amazing job.  Fun to play with.  Kinda Cartoonish, yet iconic enough to be recognisable.

I must go... I am leaving on a mission in search of action figures myself! (Though they are quite boring ones that you can buy in a store and not prototypes or secret information like some people on this forum might have)

Nah,not THAT big of collection. He basically just wanted me to come over to the UK to be part of that episode, and to help him find some stuff for his booth at this con he was going to in Birmingham. I WAS in the UK that weekend though, lol! But I went to London and Nottingham. He's never seen my collection, and most likely never will, and I would NEVER sell ANY of it to him! It'll be fun to see what he got outta his trip to the UK when that episode airs next year. Have a feeling it'll be a lot of Who and SW stuff, maybe Trek.

Oh no,no.no.....no insider at Playmates at all! Just someone who answers whatever questions I might have, lol! If the person knows the answers of course, lol! You're welcome to fly over but don't forget I'm not in the US,so no Playmates office here, lol! But if you fly over to the US I'll make sure I'm there and THEN you can do your James Bond thing,LOL! I'm sure I'll see the quest to it's full conclusion, since I'm incredibly nosy and curious, lol!

So you're easily impressed?! NEAT! lol! I have to admit,I'm not easily impressed anymore. It's more of an.....excited impulse, which usually passes in five or ten minutes. But I managed to stay into Seaquest long enough, about two days,to buy season 1 and 2 on dvd,and get a friend in Raleigh to order me a complete set of the figures+four bonus figures,LOL! Almost ordered an unopened box of trading cards as well, but the excitement was gone by then, lol! Sometimes I get into something but not long enough to even BUY anything from it.

I really wanna find out what happened with the Ferengi Marauder myself,I really like that ship. Ditto the die-cast one from Galoob. Really wanted that one too.

What figs you off on a mission for?

Looking forward to getting to L.A. next week as I have several new stores I wanna check out,and go by Hi De Ho again to see if they still have the nice selection of Playmates figs they had in July. Meltdown usually has some as well. Hope they do and that I'm still Trekkin',lol!

So was there going to be a Playmates Ferengi Marauder?  I know about the cancelled die cast Galoob one, but never heard of a Playmates version!

What a shame, I would have loved to be on Toy Hunter.  Though I can never remember the guy's name.  In my head I have named him Mario Lopez.

Seaquest is really a great show, and interestingly enough, a case study in how not to meddle with a show.  It really changes drastically each season, with the militaristic/action of Season 3 being my favourite (as well as the wacky season 2 finale).  I have the figures, and saw the trading cards in the store the other day.  I must admit to being very tempted :-)

Yes, I know, you are in Norway - about which I am ashamed to say I know almost nothing about.  Though it is home to Darlig Ulv-Stranden, which would be kinda cool to see.

I am kinda cherrypicking Playmates World Of Springfield line at the moment and picked up a Toyfare Exclusive Boxing Homer today.  Quite Excited indeed!

Tragedy has struck here in Australia, with our dollar plummeting.  $1 AUD = $0.88 US at the moment.  For the last year and a half it has been at parity or just below.  With few stores that stock Playmates Star Trek stuff (that I don't already have twice over), it appears my Trekking days may have come to a (hopefully temporary) halt.

As much as I would love to see America one day, I must admit to being quite freaked out by the TSA and their 'naked' scanners.  Civil liberty appears to mean something entirely different here in my home country!!

ROFL! You're too funny!

And that beach you're on about?!.....not here in Norway. It was filmed in the UK,don't remember where though. So you wouldn't find it over here,we don't even HAVE beaches. We have what these Craplandians CALL a beach, but it's just basically an oversized sandbox. People are just basically stupid over here, thinking they get tropical summers even, and they don't even know the MEANING of the word. I really don't like this place I've been exiled to,so you're lucky not knowing anything about this country as there's nothing to know. It's boring and meaningless. And bloody expensive!

HOLY CRAP ON A STICK!!!! Your store has TONS of stuff I want! And that's probably just a little selection you have online, yeah? Melbourne.....HERE I COME! LOL!

Yeah,Seaquest was a fun show,I'd forgotten how much I actually enjoyed it till I downloaded two episodes from YouTube, first and last episode of season 3. That season 2 ending is just GREAT!

What's his name....hmmm......smarmy used car salesman? Certainly how he comes across as at times, lol! Think it's Jordan something.....Jordan Knight? No wait, that's someone from New Kids on the Block,ROFL! Let's just go with Jordan something.

Yeah, not too happy with the naked thing at airports, they get to see how....fat I am,and....other stuff,LOL! They must be laughing their asses off at all the things they get to see. GEE,I bet they have some horror stories,in much the same way I have Greyhound horror stories. FUN horror, mind. lol!

Yes,there was supposed to be a Ferengi Marauder and I would so very much love to get one of THOSE! Just love that design. Have you started collecting that starships collection thing from Eaglemoss? I'm gonna get the ships I really like,s'why I don't subscribe.

WOW,you collect WOS? I've been on and off about starting to collect that, but the Simpsons fan in me.....I have a Bart tat on my left leg,Spidey on my right,lol....really wants to get them. I only have a Bart so far, lol.

And yes,I have a Trek tat as well.

Damm.  I was so looking forward to reenacting a tearful goodbye on that beach.  Makes sense that its in the UK.  All of Doctor who is filmed in Cardiff after all.

I remember watching a news story years ago about Brits going to their beaches during a 'heat wave' when it was 20 degrees (Celsius).  Last Thursday it was 41 degrees here in Melbourne - which basically means you close all the blinds and crank up the air con and dont leave the house.  Luckily I was knee deep in a store room full of action figures, so I was nice and protected.

If you check out the facebook page there are heaps of photos of our shelves and back room.  It is my job to keep the store nice and tidy.  That's how I got into the World Of Springfield figures.  Just playing with those playsets all day and looking at how truly magnificent some of those figures are.  Beware that humidity and time make fools of us all, and a lot of the interactive playsets have battery acid damage.

Still, though I think I will just pick a few of my favourites out of the line - at a whopping 200 + figures, it's a pretty large collection.  Can't have them stealing my limited shelf real estate from my Star Trek figures!

Id love to see a photo of the Ferengi Marauder.  I have the Galoob one (that seats a couple of figures) and that's heaps of fun to swoosh around the house once everyone has gone to sleep!

Ah Eaglemoss - the internet appears to be awash with how amazing those ships look.  Alas, no way to get them in Australia.

One day they will undoubtedly respond to the volumes of hate mail I have sent them.

Your tatts sound awesome.  And nerdy!  Congratulations on letting your freak flag fly!  If I ever have to go through one of those scanners, I'm taking some viagra.  It only seems fair to share the awkwardness both ways!

ROFL! Guess I should do that too next time I go through one of them. Or just get undressed and go naked,LOL!

That's the thing,I can't seem to find any pics of the Playmates Marauder! And I was positive I'd seen one years ago. Maybe BadBunnyMike knows,I'll ask him,he seems to know a bit about Playmates stuff, lol! I did see pics of someone's collection yesterday and he had the Galoob Romulan and Wesley! I was like,HOLY COW I want those! LOL! I like my Galoob Marauder, still wanted a die-cast one though, and I just ordered the shuttle yesterday, that also seats some figs. At one point I thought I already had it but soon realised that I don't.

Most of Who is filmed in Cardiff or the UK,but they did go Spain,Venice,Croatia and the US for some episodes. They went to Monument Valley in Utah, one of the places I'm dying to go to. Have no clue why,'cos there's nothing there. Just a wide open GORGEOUS landscape. I like that kinda thing. One time, when taking the bus to Vegas from L.A. during the night, the bus broke down about 45 minutes outside Vegas at 3am. It was GREAT! Just road, wide open scenery and this globe of light in the distance which was Vegas. I was very curios as to why, just a few feet from the road,it was fenced in. I thought it was to either keep wild animals from getting on the road,or wild people wandering off into the desert. But it truly was gorgeous as we had to wait three and half hours there and I loved every second of it,as the sun started to rise and we could see more and more of the gorgeousness of it all, plain desert and fantastic colors as the sun came up. I really wish I could do that moment all over again, lol! One other time, outside Cambridge,Ohio, the bus driver fell asleep around 6am in the morning.....but that's a TOTALLY different story for some other time,LOL!

I will certainly check out pics on FB. At a glance you had Six Million Dollar Man and Bionic Woman stuff,REALLY want my Maskatron back in my collection, lol. A whole bunch of Playmates ST figs, some Thunderbirds stuff,Supercar,Simpsons,Spidey.....and even a 12" Fly fig! LOL! And a whole bunch of other stuff, and that was just on your homepage! Don't know if I dare checking out the FB page! LOL! Two of the stores I'm checking out when I get to L.A.,that Ive never been to yet,are Big Kid and Blast from the Past, and I have a feeling they'll have a LOT of toys that I want. I'm actually almost hoping I'm not into anything by the time I get to L.A. on Wednesday as I wouldn't spend lots of money there,LOL! And I think that's one of the things holding me back on starting the WoS line proper, there's so many and it'd cost a fortune to get them all,LOL! But BOY are they great lookin'!

Time to check out some other stuff online. It's early Sunday morning here. One more day of work, tomorrow, lol, and I'm outta here,FINALLY,Tuesday afternoon. YAAAAY!

The Galoob shuttle is awesome, though the final product differs significantly from the one shown on the box!  Typical of 80s toys hey?

To my knowledge its the only time that specific shuttle design (one of my favourites) has been rendered in plastic.

Despite consistent rumours over the years, the Doctor Who production has never made it down to Australia.  There is no shortage of wide open spaces here.  My best mate lives 130kms from Melbourne in what is classified as proper country.  Wide open expanses, farm animals and super religious folk.  It really is quite beautiful.  I drive down for a visit every so often and am struck by the sight of the stars without so much hideous light pollution.

The Six Million Dollar Man stuff draws quite a crowd (to my surprise).  We also have an ebay store if you are interested, though I'm not sure if absolutely everything is listed.  The Star Trek figures are frustrating.  So many of the same character.  Obviously the ones no one wanted here in Australia (and uniquely, without the trading card or space cap!).  Mordock, Cadet Wesley, Guinan, K'Ehleyr, Deanna Troi.  We do however have an orion slave girl and Generations Chekov which is pretty cool.

I think the exclusive single figures from the WOS line is manageable - though there are quite a lot of them too!  Simpsons is kind of like a way of life to me - I watch it every morning with breakfast - so I'm kinda surprised that I never got into them earlier.  The size of the collection is a massive deterrent, and, one could argue one of the reasons why the line imploded.  But in my opinion, they are a much more entertaining option than the stinky static figures McFarlane came out with later on.

I am on a mission to find Captain Kurn at the moment, but US dollars are keeping me away, so fingers crossed someone in Oz has one.

Hope ur sunday was awesome, I am done working for the year and am now deeply entrenched in Xmas related stress!

Sunday was.....boring. But I'm just restless and unfocused and just wanna get the heck outta dodge! LOL! Luckily I leave tomorrow evening. Not much else to do till then, one last day of work, this kid I'm trying to get hold of before I leave who's just being a di....annoying. Teenagers! lol! But other than that, just bored till I land in New York.

I'm happy I decided to finally get that shuttle, been on my list for ages! But right NOW I just want stuff from the new movies, and there ain't that much out there, and some of it is WAY pricey! Well, more than I'm willing to pay for it at least, lol! Might get my big Revell Enterprise model kit today though. Yet another model kit I'll never put together,LOL! No patience whatsoever for that kinda thing,I'd rather just fork out 6000 bucks and get the QMX one,LOL! Which is just a glorified model kit anyways, lol!

Ooooh, starry nights. Get that some places in the US as well. My beach,Yosemite National Park,Arizona,Vasquez Rock, outside Vegas where the bus broke down....LOL! Funny thing is,sometimes it looks fake,ROFL! And it's just too funny when people watch a movie and say,oh that's SO cgi!,when it isn't. And when they find out what they thought was real IS cgi,the reaction is just WAY funny! Guess peoples eyes are just used to all the fakeness, lol!

I loved my Six Million Dollar Man stuff! Had the four main characters, was always hoping they'd make Max,lol! Also had the rocket repair station lab thing. Always wanted the rest of the stuff, maybe one day, lol!

Well if I come across a Captain Kurn while checking out various stores in the next two and half weeks,I'll send it ya. You still looking for Skunk Data and Genny Picard as well?

Ok,last day of work. YAWN!

So what exactly do you do for work if I might ask?

As I'm sure you may have heard from many others, the Playmates stuff from the 2009 movie was pretty bad.  I bought a fair amount of it.  I tried to love the figures, but in the end, I just couldn't (much like my sentiments regarding the films themselves!).  The electronic Enterprise is okay.  And I mean, just okay.  I certainly wouldn't lambast it the way some others have online.  The sounds and inclusion of LED lights are very nice, though in terms of detail, it pales in comparison to my Insurrection Enterprise E (from 1998!).

I have only ever built one model kit in my life - a Kazon torpedo.  It sits in my closet like some sort of shameful freak of nature boasting far too much glue and a woeful paint job.  As a man with little patience and so called "stupid fingers", I much prefer the pre built ships with lights and sounds (which I occasionally fly round the house).

Vasquez rocks!  Many of my favourite sci fi events have taken place there.  Watch out for the Gorn!

Skunk Data and Generations Picard secured.  Though I am still missing Kurn.  If you can find him, I'd be happy to form a commercial relationship :-)

Congrats on finishing work!  Its Xmas eve, eve here, and I am about to go do last minute shopping at the 24 hour mall.  Wish me luck as I face the hungry hungry hoardes or consumerism!

I work with kids,3-6 year olds. It's fun enough. Sometimes they ask me what I'm gonna be when I grow up,LOL! You should see their reaction when I say I get paid to be here with them and play, lol!

Guess I'm one of the extremely few who actually LIKED both the new movies AND the toys from Playmates, lol! Only thing that'll bug me forever is not getting to complete the two playsets. GRRRRR!

Ok,will keep an eye out for Kurn for ya. Let ya know what I find. And yeah,Vasquez Rocks is a really great area, been there a couple of times. No Gorn though,LOL! LOVE the Gorn, should've brought my 12" and taken some fun pics, lol!

Ok,back to work for a few hours and then home, watch a Star Trek movie....yes,the 2009 one,lol....and then txt or call people and then try and sleep and then leave, yaaay! FINALLY!

Have a fun Christmas!

Hmmmm, wonder why no one else posts here......LOL!

Indeed, the poor Playmates forum does seem like a virtual ghost town sometimes!

I'm unsure why the Playmates toys of the 90s have fallen into disrepute since the introduction of the AA/DST range.  I still find them quite charming and a welcome reminder of the 10 year old child who could not possibly afford every single toy (even the limited range that was released in Australia).

Thats awesome that you get paid to work with kids!  It sounds exciting dude!  I love the kids that come into the store.  They are always so excited and seem on the verge of heart failure upon seeing our range of light sabers!

I too have an Xmas day plane to catch - seeing family in Tasmania.  Flying in and out in one day.  Its bound to be exhausting.  Oh well - there's presents at the end, and I have a sneaking suspicion that there is a Playmates Borg Sphere under the tree for me this year!!

Have a good one dude and merry xmas!

Ooooh, you're a Tasmanian Devil! LOL! LOVE Taz! Always wondered if that's what they look like in real life and if they spin like he does,LOL! Gotta look that up sometime, lol!

Yeah, kids are fun. Always say it how it is,much like myself. Never been very good at editing myself, and why the heck should I?! I want a person to know that's what I think, feel or mean about it,lol! No time for sugarcoating. Probably why socalled grown-ups think I'm so bloody weird,LOL!

I LOVE the Playmates stuff! Yes,even the stuff from 09,as I remember how many times I saw the movie at the movies, and where I got all my toys from.....on a trip to Bethesda,MD.....and even got to see it ONE more time when I got back to L.A. in July as it was still showing at this cheap movie theater. I went to New York the weekend it opened, lol! I do that sometimes,go to New York if there's a movie I just can't WAIT to see.....but I had already seen it a week before it's release as I got to see it at a press screening, lol! But it was totally different seeing it in New York, watched it three times that weekend. One of those very few movies that can hold my attention span no matter how hyper and unfocused I might be. Some say new Trek is for the ADD generation. I don't actually agree with that, lol!

Ok,stuff to print out,flight to check-in,better get a move on,LOL!

And you have a GREAT Christmas! And thanks for keepin' me entertained in the dark hours of the night.

I don't recall having any pictures of the Marauder, I did read in a magazine from that era that they were planning on making it as well, but I know it got scrapped with the Galor. I am not 100% sure if they even made a prototype of the Marauder at all....but you never know. I'd have to do a bit more digging to find out if there actually is a picture floating around somewhere.

There ARE pictures of the Galor atleast though, and even that Toy Fair video.

How could there not be any bromance - I mean people please!

Other than working in an action figure store, I am a personal trainer by trade.  Very few fitness professionals are interested in action figures and even fewer will talk to me about toys from the 90s.

So collecting for me is an almost secret solitary passion which I devote a lot of time and energy to, but rarely talk about to others in the real world because they wont understand or will instantly reach for their labels and call me strange or childish.

So yeah, good to meet someone who 'gets' my hobby.

Xmas is over - I am so far beyond tired, though it was a wonderful day with family full of genuine affection and a seething undercurrent of silent resentment :-)

I did however get a Borg Sphere!

In L.A. waiting for stores to open.  yawn!  Why don't they open early and do some sales and whatnot!!!! LOL!

LOL on the bromance. That funny. But I understand that whole people not getting it and so on. Luckily I only surround myself with people who DO get it,those who don't......who cares. Their loss,my gain. Let them pretend to be the grown ups they try hard to be but secretly wish they could let their inner child out. Me? I have no inner child,it's all out there! LOL! Grown ups are boring and stupid and I don't think I'll ever become one. I do look like one though.

Have fun y'all and have a GREAT NEW YEAR!
