Hi everyone,
My name is Fred Krause from Clinton, Utah. I came across this site a few days ago, and am quite happy to find a forum of folks interested in the same thing that I am. I used to collect the Playmates line of Trek figures back in the mid to late 90's. I got out of it about 1999 because I wasn't happy with the what Playmates was doing with the line, and also developed other interests. I had every figure, ship, and phaser, with the exception of the three most expensive (Tapestry Picard, Tri-fold Borg, Dathon w/pog), but ended up selling off about 2/3rds of my collection to fund Lasik eye surgery. That was the end of my Trek collecting..... or so I thought! Fast forward to a few months ago. I was down in my basement getting something and came across my remaining figures. I started to look at them and remembered how much fun that I had had collecting them. The next thing I knew I was getting the bug again, and after a few weeks of debating it, I decided to start collecting again. This time around though I decided to do a few things differently, and keep my collecting limited to the Playmates 5" line, and also to not buy a ton of duplicates. I also decided that I wanted to collect them loose as well, so I had something to display. Thanks to this forum I look forward to meeting and chatting with the rest of you ;0) Fred.

Welcome back into the fold, Dathon!
It can be a little quiet around here sometimes, but you're sure to get great advice and contacts.
Personally, I'm all about the ships and the role-play, but I certainly did "collect" Playmates figures back in the day. To play with. "Accumulate" is probably a better word. Birthdays and Christmas... and creepy Austrians.
That's a story for another time.
Most of my figures have stayed with me - I'm just having trouble finding Riker, and Geordi's lost his VISOR. Aside from that, they're in great condition, and my nephews get a hell of a lot of play out of them - along with my TNG Bridge playset and Shuttlecraft Goddard.

Thanks for the welcome Destructor ;0) I'm enjoying checking out the custom figure section, and the work that others have done. I've even comtemplated building a few customs myself... like I need another time and money consuming past time on top of my building scale models of military aircraft, and musky fishing. Too little time! Take care, Fred.
