After this recent Q&A, it looks like this could use its own thread for discussion.

It may be a movie trilogy for Paramount or it may be a mini-series for CBS All Access. No one will know for sure until the dust has settled around this merger struggle.

As long as it doesn't end up being the rumored Khan prequel, I'd be interested to see what he could come up with.

If it's Khan, my interest in it will be zero. I love Khan (Ricardo Montalban - not Cumberbatch), but I've no interest in seeing what he got up to previous to 1996, or whilst stranded. There's a whole universe of possibilities, so seeing it be another prequel centred around the original show/characters/time period, would be gutting.

I could totally see TV execs green lighting something like "Star Trek: The Eugenic Wars" because it would be dystopic, dark and (seemly) everything that people seem to like these days, but I also think it would be a disservice to the franchise... those "hooks" were in TOS to highlight the optimism that we can overcome those types of situations... and since we kinda live it... I don't see why it needs exploring. If Orville showed anything its that Macfarlane is right that there are people that want fun, upbeat optimistic projections of our future. I just don't understand why we can't get something like that with the production value they just put into DISCO.
