#97564 New Star Trek Series starring Patrick Stewart

Posted by djc242 on 08 March 2022 - 01:16 PM

I think the father issues make sense. That seemed to be a common thread in Trek with Sarek/Spock, Riker and his dad, Tom Paris and the admiral. Belannas dad was also a jerk to her.

Im happy they are doing a variety. Wave 2 better have some DS9! Maybe even from Lower Decks and Picard.

Wow was episode 6 really wonderful. I hope we see more of that type of thing throughout all the new shows.

Just a crime you dont have pictures of that modification. Take away his replicator rations.

#97340 DST Bird of Prey Reset?

Posted by djc242 on 15 August 2021 - 09:45 PM

Yes. There are 4 variants. One is all clear plastic, no electronics - a SDCC exclusive. Another is painted and partially translucent with lights and sounds from The Search for Spock (Kruge dialog). The main painted version has audio from The Undiscovered Country. The fully painted version with landing gear has clips from The Voyage Home. All have moveable wings - three positions.

#96871 Prototypes

Come to think of it, a D-7 or something really close to one has appeared in every Trek show (except Picard so far), the original movie franchise and even the JJ films. It’s like the Jonathan Frakes of the ships.

I too would have loved a Playmates Enterprise A! Strange that they made the Romulan Bird of Prey and not the D-7. The tease of the Cardassian ship still stings. That is a prototype I would pounce on at an auction.

My favorite rare figure. Wish that Nintendo game wasnt so hard!

I got teary eyed, not gonna lie. Never thought Id see my captain and childhood role model come back. The bitter taste left by the end of Nemesis might finally go away.

Hoping the writers nail this one! I hope the Enterprise E is still around somewhere too.

#95988 Star Trek: Discovery. Series talk and discussion

Posted by djc242 on 22 April 2019 - 01:46 PM

I liked Season 2 way more than the first. I want to go back and watch both again. The pace was sometimes really quick. I also want to evaluate the show after knowing where everything was leading in each season. That way I can judge things for as they were and maybe ignore any of my expectations that werent met. I still think some of the issues I have with the story will remain.

I loved Pike, the Enterprise, and those blue phaser beams! Culber and Stammets (spelling?) were never favorites but their scene in the finale really moved me. I feel like those two have it dialed in now. Im curious to see where they go in season 3. Personally happy they are moving to a time where canon really doesnt matter.

#95116 Deep Space Nine Doc “What We Left Behind”

djc242,

Just curious, did you contribute to the crowd funding campaign? and were tickets to the even part of that? or did you just pick some up and decide to go?

I should add... I'd love to see this... I was only half heartedly watching DS9 when it 1st aired... missing episodes and catching them in reruns... but by the end of the 3rd season I was hooked and loved it... I never missed an episode from then on... even more than TNG and I still consider it the pinnacle of Trek story telling. I guess DS9 is what really solidified my fandom.

Heck... I was living in Charlotte NC at the time... and used to get season passes to Parmount's Great America and recall they had an entire Trek Pavilion I'd just hang out in.

In retrospect, I think DS9 was  truly ahead of its time and helped pioneer the "novel" style of TV shows we see from the likes of Netflix. DS9 is still my favorite show

I did contribute so this screening was part of that reward. They did sell tickets just for this event.

It really makes you want to go back to that world, either in re-runs or in a new season (a long Hail Mary for sure).

I went to the Los Angeles screening last night. It is really great and covers a lot. The season 8 writers room is definitely the highlight. The run time is 2 hours but I could have easily sat through more. Check it out when you can!

PS - sat behind Herman Zimmerman!
