#94315 Potential Eaglemoss BSG Ship Collection

Posted by AndyW on 05 July 2018 - 07:04 AM

Mk2 Viper turned up today and I'm really rather impressed, certainly the best version of the ship I've ever seen. The AA/DST Resin statue might have more detail, but its been awhile since I've had them out of the box and they always suffered a little from wings not being straight.

The Mk7 will be stunning but does raise an interesting question, will they use the early seasons Zoic model (my preference) or the later Season 4 onwards Mk7.

Not sure if I'll keep my AA/DST Resin Vipers, as these EM ones are so good.

Ha, my ring ship was waiting for me when I got home, but no sign of the Buran/Tellerite Cruiser.

Ring ship is rather nice except for the fuzzy detailing on the 'flight pod/command module', which is in stark contrast to the really nice detail and paint work on the rings themselves.

As a display piece though, its like nothing else, looks wonderful.

Picked up a couple of Springfield classes from my local newsagent this morning. Another hit for me and yet another of the BOBW designs that considering it was kitbashed actually looks like a very resolved design. Also, no wonky nacelles this time round, on either of the two I got.

I'm a total Eaglemoss fan boy, anyone who gives me an Akira class, let alone dozens and dozens and dozens of ships you struggle to find a clear picture of, let alone a physical product, can do no wrong to me.

But...I also don't like some of the transitions to jumbo size. The 1701 worked as they tried VERY VERY hard to get Issue 50 right in the standard size. I'm sure I heard Ben said they'd spent more time on that than many others. The transition to jumbo was I think we'd all admit, successful.

The D looks ok, but again, little things like the shuttlebay got carried over. Not the end of the world, but still.

The E looks to have all the horridness of the standard size, just made bigger. Doesn't bode well for me.

The NX-01 looks like the worst of the bunch, those bussard collectors have come straight from the small one wrongly, they are too small and don't sit right. Why this should happen when the collectors on the NX-01 refit are correct is beyond me.

I know the standard little NX-01 was pretty good, but I've always felt something was off with it, proportion wise, I know they used the CGI model etc etc etc, but parts of the saucer just don't look right to me, when comparing it with a screen shot, especially in side on view. And the bussard collectors annoy me every time I look at it.

That ring ship, WOW.

Got my subs delivery of  Issue 94 (Suliban Cell Ship) and Issue 95 (New Orleans Class) over the weekend. I confess I haven't even opened the cell ship as I wish they hadn't bothered (SS Conestoga before dross like the Suliban ship, hell, why not the cruiser before this!), but this disappointment is balanced by the fact I have a physical New Orleans Class in my hand!

Its wonderful, although suffers from wonky nacelle issues. Not as bad as some peoples on the FB posts, but a little noticeable. Still, its a New Orleans Class! What a time to be alive. :D

One of the best 'podcasts' (its not a podcast really is it?) they've ever done.

I know I'll sound like a total fanboy, but Ben deserves a 'services to trek' award. I remember picking up the the D and thinking, well, we won't get to the Akira, but if we do I'll die happy. And now we're into the Wolf 359 fleet. What a time to be alive. :D

#84507 AA Q&A #302 Star Trek Half a Century! : No New Information

Posted by AndyW on 09 February 2016 - 09:43 AM

I'm forced to agree with the above poster, I've been buying these products since 2002 and they aren't about to change now.

They don't seem that thrilled about, or feel that the Eaglemoss comparison is fair. That's fine, its a point of view, but whatever they think the best approach is, EM's marketing effectiveness with Ben's twitter, info releases on hero collector and trek collective and the general buzz around the products should be a lesson to anyone making trek product to fans.

I only get AA/DST info from here and the odd story on trek collective, but I have to really try hard to keep an eye on release dates and when we can expect things. Whereas with EM there is a constant stream of updates, and I don't think anyone can help liking that level of interaction whatever AA/DST say.

There are suggestions on the FB group that maybe the reason why the original UK orders haven't been dispatched is because of all those order errors on the day (people being charged for multiple sets etc etc). The suggestion is that our orders have gone AWOL and clearly EM have absolutely no idea of the extent of the problem.

This would explain why people who casually ordered in the last few weeks have received orders fairly promptly with little to no problems.

One month later...

Just got off the phone with Eaglemoss, and the guy told me that the shuttles were all dispatched with Royal Mail on November 9th. He said to see if they arrive during this week (as they have been with others, albeit last week), and if they don't, to follow it up with them next Monday.

An absolute mess of a company, though I don't hold that against Ben - he's in charge of the content, not the distribution - as the ships themselves are fantastic, and I can't wait for the shuttles, but yeah, I'd never subscribe to them.

I'll believe it when I see it, I've been told every week for three that they have 'just been dispatched'. Again, some FB have received on Sat so they are out there.

To be fair to EM, I've subscribed since day one and they've been perfect except for the odd delay, but over the two years delivery has been very very consistent. This is my first experience of the web store and its terrible!

They look so good, I am literally watching for the post man every day (I'm off work with a broken leg).

They look about in scale with the Runabout which is just the icing on the cake.

Also, a bit of news for anyone who's ordered the shuttle pack and/or a plaque, as I have. Standard delivery is said to take between 3-7 working days (that's Monday-Friday), which makes today the sixth working day. Just to be safe, I decided to give them a call, and after being on hold for 17 minutes...I got some new information. They received all the new stuff in their warehouse on the 19th, that's this Monday just gone. The guy also told me to expect them both within ten working days. Today (Thursday) has been the third day, so they might not be here until next week.
Just a head's up. :)

Thanks for the info, thats great news and it looks like the shuttles really will make the end of October arrival date.

Subs delivery in the UK normally arrive from tomorrow onwards so for those of us expecting that, the Kelvin and the shuttles its quite an exciting week. :)

He's just tweeted to say subs email delayed until tomorrow.

He said again there will be a substantial discount, so more than the £1 that some of the jokers on Facebook have suggested like the normal discount applied to the specials.

Long time lurker on this thread and boards. Used to post on the old Art Asylum boards but never drifted onto here after that ended until a few years back (around about the time Hot wheels started their lines around the JJEnt's release).

I'm an avid collector of these, having been an original subscriber when news of the EM line came out.

To be honest, and I'm sure this feeling was familiar to most of you, I never expected the line to get to Issue 10 let alone where we are now and where we are heading.

Looks like a lot of UK subscribers got an early delivery this month and the Hideki/Runabout/Vengeance shipment were delivered on Saturday. No such luck here, but given my proximity to where these are shipped from in the East Midlands of the UK I normally get them a day or two early.
