So B&C will be out on friday, to minimal fanfare, on a computer gaming video site... starting with a 10 minute-or-so segment.

How *edited for content* unsatisfactory can you get?

Entertainment Weekly article.

New trailer on Youtube.

EDIT: Dunno why I made a separate thread for it... that can be deleted by a mod, I guess. Brainfart, sorry.

I find it odd that they basically have so little faith in it that they wouldn't show it as pilot on syfy. Then again, maybe this is a marketing ploy? Start with a small but savvy fan base that will generate viral buzz?

They really wouldn't be doing it for viral buzz, BSG had pretty good following and most would probably lap this up, it's more likely that Syfy just don't want to throw money away on making a series of this; much easier for them to show wrestling or make low budget cop shows with a sci-fi twist in which the main character can talk to ghosts, small animals, and inanimate objects.

So why make the pilot? Or did they give it to someone else to finish off?

The pilot may have been too expensive and the thought of carrying it on in a series may just scare Syfy. The splitting the pilot into 10 minute eps and shoving it on machinima/youtube seems to me that either they want this to fail badly, or Syfy wants to see if they can convince Machinima to share some of the production costs for any future series.

The Syfy CEO has tweeted that if the Machinima.com showing/2013 Syfy airing draw large enough numbers "We would like" to make more.

Can't say such non-commital language fills me with confidence.

"Oh yes, B&C drew more viewers than the olympics as a whole, and we'd kind of like to make more, but we really can't be bothered."

Given the shower scene at the beginning, I think I'll wait til the "unrated" release in February *wink, wink*.

Also, (and I'm stealing this joke shamelessly from someone on Reddit) they shouldn't swear so much - people get so shocked that they drop their tools!

So they combined them to make them all ~15 min?

I forgot all about this until just now, so thanks for the updates!

I did watch them, I thought it started out good, but has languished a bit on the last few episodes. I assume they were trying to set up a number of running thread plots that would be fleshed out later, but because the series didn't get picked up they probably won't.

Overall I liked it. I thought the pacing was better than Caprica, which just couldn't get to the point in any single episode.
