So.. when I signed up for all Access they have a yearly sub model too... 15% off, or $99 for the year w/o adds... which I think is a bit better than 15%

That brings down the monthly price to $8.25 with no adds,

I didn't check.. but assuming they make a similar offer for the sub with adds... you're cost would be ~$5 per month.

I also didn't realize the service has limited movies! not many about a dozen or so... but some stuff I like... assuming that they will rotate the selection monthly... that is an added value I want from the service.

Obviously Star Trek is a huge draw for me. As someone who doesn't own any of the season sets on home video, that's a plus. The rest of my CBS viewing has dwindled down to Big Bang Theory and Elementary. My wife was a big fan of The Good Wife until the last couple seasons. Not sure if she'd be up for catching up and watching the spinoff.

At the moment, I can watch Elementary on Hulu. I'd have to check the rest of their menu to see if it's worthwhile.

I saw they have the Twilight Zone too... Love TZ.

I have to admit I'm a bit confused at some of their catalog... for example... they have Cheers... and I always thought that was NBC... of course thats where Star Trek was originally too... so I suppose they sell/swap content.

There isnt much on All Access that interest me outside of Trek.

I did give my login info to my parents so they could use it too. They both watch Big Brother and Survivor, and my Mom was very excited about 7th Heaven and Touched By an Angel being there.

thats a good idea... I only need a single stream... and its supposed to work with two... I could give the access to a relative so they get some more value out of it.

That confused me at first, too, but it's not about what network it's on. It's about who produced it.

For example, Cheers was produced by Paramount. So I'm guessing the lineup at CBS All Access looks a little like this:

Well... theres some good classics stuff I'd watch if they put it on the service! Mostly from the 70's or 80's... so it seems they have room to grow the content.

so I guess... even though its a stream... they will be slavish to posting it exactly at 8pm?

If so.. seems odd... why not just make it available midnight the day of the week you want it to air? most people will watch it when they want... so why wait til so late?

is this the same for other streaming services with exclusive content?

HBO does it, but they also broadcast.

I’ve never paid close enough attention to how other streaming services handle their weekly released series.

I don’t have too much of an issue with it since I work most sundays.

It's probably so that it's released at a peak time so all the social media has the most impact. Just wait till they preempt the release due to a football game going too long for the same reason.

The delaying the stream release would piss off so many people.

Myself included.

Yeah... that makes no sense to do something like that...

Mostly when they release new stuff on amazon... they put up a block of stuff... I'm unaware of any exclusive amazon content that they don't just put up and let you binge watch at your leisure.

We'll see how the numbers hold after the trial periods end.

It isn't terribly surprising for them to shoot up with the premiere.

Exactly. I expect they will see a spike, but that the overall bump in subs will be positive.

Oh, I'm sure it will be positive, just not as high as this.

The question is, how much will they drop when Discovery isn't on. I would think CBS's goal would be to retain subscribers, not just get temporary ones.
