It really is a beautiful ship, but I have to admit the placement of the registry is a bit peculiar, it must be about 2 millimetres too high in my opinion.

Apart from that, smashing little model.

I have a suggestion for the windows being painted improperly : If they can't get them right consistently, then simply don't have them painted in at the factory anymore, period. They didn't paint them in on the Enterprise E, and I don't think they should be painted in on any of the molds that have molded in windows.

Frankly, I'd rather do it myself anyways, but that's just me.

Crooked nacelles, horrific light bleed, sloppy window paint, misaligned registry...

I'm definitely going to wait for this one to reissue.

And if it doesn't reissue, I'll probably just pick this one up on EBay.

I don't anticipate much of a problem finding one a year from now, something tells me this effort won't be fetching $150-$200 on the secondary market once it sells out.

I just got an original AA 1701-A on ebay for really cheap but the stand was broken so it doesn't include a stand. Is there any way I could get a replacement stand somehow?

I have sent DST an email requesting a new stand but I doubt they will seeing as I'm in Canada.

In the old days I would say they would help. Currently I doubt they will. I can see if I have an extra. It may take a few days to get around to digging through boxes though.

I miss the days of them just sending a stand no questions asked. It's how I got an extra Excelsior stand for my TWOK since it matches the ship better, and is a better stand overall.

The last couple times they've required a picture of the damage, they just sent me the caps with the peg on it for the ball joint.

All I wanted was another Excelsior stand for my A.

QMx even sent me a new engine for my Serenity cutaway because one was loose, no questions asked.

Oh, thanks for helping, JMW! Yes I doubt DST will help especially since I'm in Canada not the US. If it comes down to it I can always ask my Dad to make a custom stand out of wood like he did for my Playmates Enterprise-D. I was so surprised to see the 2003 AA 1701-A up for sale for a mere $30 USD on ebay so I had to grab it!

Only $30? Wow, great find. If I saw it I'd do the same since I like the paint apps on the original more than the re-release.

Reminds of of when I found the Playmates Voyager for $12 in the middle of the night, or the Defiant for $32.

I've always been tempted to buy stands for my DST ships from this guy:

They look so much nicer than the ones DST makes.

Wow, $12 for Voyager? That's amazing! Here is the pic of the custom stand my Dad made for my Playmates Enterprise-D if anyone was curious...

Yes, I saw those. They have a basic stand with no text for about $10. I might go that route.

Ya, I was shocked to find one for $12. I was convinced it was a mis-listing, and I wouldn't actually get it but I did.

Not a bad stand, I did something similar for the Cadet Series Enterprise C.

I decided to spray paint it silver since I didn't like the straight wood look.

JMW, you don't have to dig through your boxes, I actually got an email back from DST! They are sending me a replacement stand!  :D

Well, I contacted DST but my ship is apparently too old for them to sell me a replacement stand. :( JWM, how much would you want for one of the ones in your boxes? I just want the darn thing to match the others. (I get DST not wanting to just give me one, but they could have offered to sell me one.)

I just noticed BBTS has the 1701-A up for pre-order coming next month.
