Issues with my TOS Phaser

The viewfinder thing that pops up on the type 1 isn't opening, also the overload sound isn't working, it worked the first couple times I tried it but it isn't anymore.
Do any of you have any ideas on how to remedy either of these issues? Or am I out of luck.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I am also having issues with my TOS Phaser.
My problem is the batteries, they are LR44 correct? Well I've tried replacing them but they don't quite fit properly, the original versions seem to have 'nipples' which allow them to fit more snuggly but I can't seem to locate these anywhere.
Has anyone else come across this issue and managed to resolve it?

Most toys that use those batteries need them to be actual LR44s. I tried using ones similar in size that had a different letter/number. The packaging listed they were compatible with things that used LR44, but these were too small. So go for ones that list LR44 specifically.

I've had the battery issue as well. Why wouldn't one use foil?

I've had problems with my overload working on my TRU exclusive; the P1 keeps popping up out of the cradle when I turn the knob. I just don't use the overload feature on that one.

I get my LR44s at Dollar Tree and they fit the phaser fine. These only cost a dollar for a 4-pack.

Thanks for the input everyone, I found some LR44's that fit better (borrowed them from a Dalek, I'm sure he won't mind) but I've come to the conclusion that something else is up with the phaser....I think it might be officially kaput.
