Janeway. We don’t have a figure of her in this scale.

Damn, that’s a vast improvement over the DST Kirk! That may be the best Kirk likeness on the market, looks way more like Shatner than the QMX or Mezco versions by my eye. The DST figures look like dolls in comparison.

"But we do have some ship variants in the works, for that class and others. Its our hope we can keep moving forward with new ships and re-makes of past ships and make them as accurate as possible."

That was the answer in reference to a TWOK really release. Maybe a TMP variant? Sounds like an opportunity to finally get a great/less flawed release of the refit.

It's probably too late to re-mold the deflector grid, and indeed issue 2 has the same problem with registry/deflector grid placement. I don't think it's too late to re-do the markings themselves though, there's been plenty of times when they've revised paint jobs between preview models and final versions, as well as UK and US releases.

I think a fair compromise for the front registry is to ignore the deflector grid placement and just put the registry where it's supposed to go.

What is it with toy makers and the 1701-A anyway? DST screwed up the top registry by pushing it too close to the bridge, and now EM's is too far. It's my favorite design (look at my handlename, duh) so it's a bit annoying. I'll still buy it though, but it doesn't look to be an improvement over the awesome Johnny Lightning version. I'm dying to see how QMX's refit will turn out.

#84646 Final chance to guess what the new Federation ship is...

I have to say I love this choice. I have the Playmates Defiant and love it, even though it's modeled after the CGI version (so...technically canon), I don't want amother version as much as I want something new. The Reliant has never been done as a large scale toy and I'm sure DST will do it justice.

I'd love a Reliant, so would most Trek fans. It's not the most attractive design, but it's not supposed to be. It's iconic and a huge part of the franchise. Thr Miranda probably beats the Excelsior for most appearances on screen yes?

Sorry for the super-sized pictures, not sure how I can make them smaller.

Looks like your left (from the front) nacelle has a similar issue to my replacement in that the front of where the pylon connects to the nacelle has a gap.

Yep, I don't think it's too noticeable though. My torpedo launchers have pretty decent paint apps, but I noticed you have some black paint spill on yours Alteran. The thing is, I should've been able to order this with confidence over the web. I only got it because I was able to inspect this one up close and person. I looked really hard to make sure I didn't have totally wonky nacelles like the first one you ordered. I definitely love the lights-on feature (honestly like this more than playing the sound effects on most of the ships), just wish it was longer than 10 seconds. The top saucer registry and slow sounds are the 2 biggest issues for me still, with inward nacelles close behind.

I still like it overall, it's a net positive to my collection. It's not a stunning beauty like the E-D, new E-E, BoP, or Excelsior/E-B but she's solid.

I'm going to eat some of my own words: I saw a 1701-A in a local comic shop, inspected it closely, and decided to pull the trigger on it. it looked good from the box. I was pleased when I opened it, maybe I got lucky but mine has pretty clean paint apps. Here are my thoughts:

-The white windows arent perfect but crisp overall. Miles better than the black window paint apps on my 2014 TWOK, but not quite as clean as 2007 TWOK's windows.
-I didn't spot any excess glue or paint splotches.
-The top registry is still in the wrong place and my sound chip is too slow (like the first E-D) but the sounds are nice and loud.
-The warp nacelles are straight, but they are tilted inwards as others reported. Don't like this but not deal breaker, I think DST should go back to removable nacelles as they allow you to move the nacelles around a bit to eliminate any tilting.
-I really like the bright LEDs, yeah the impulse deck has bad light bleed and I don't care for the white impulse engines, but light bleed on this is way better overall than on the refit editions. No translucent plastic/see through saucer, yay!
-I really like the warp engines, good paint apps and the lights are super bright. I like the blue/purple light bleed actually because it makes the engines seem like they're surging with power. Accidental neat effect.
-I like the detail and color choices in the strongback section.

Overall this is ship is decent to good, not DST's best work but it's worth owning. It looks nice and "clean" overall.  Because I'm a big sucker I'll probably buy the inevitable reissue. I prefer the gridlines to have paint apps like on the box art as the 1701-A is supposed to be more weathered than the TMP E, but I can go to town with a pencil and do it myself.

Honestly I'm pretty disappointed based on the pics/videos others have posted. The refit Enterprise/Enterprise-A is my favorite design and I was hoping DST would knock this one out of the park after the TWOK 2013/2014 reissues left me disappointed (little improvement over the 2007 version: translucent saucer, light bleed, horrible window paint apps on the 2014 version).  I think just about every DST ship has been totally awesome, especially the TOS Enterprise, BoP, Enterprise-D, Excelsior, and Enterprise-B (ok hell I love them all). I own the original AA Enterprise A which honestly I like, but don't love because of the lack of detail with the paint job and the rice bulbs instead of LEDs. I was hopeful for this reissue because the reissue Enterprise-E was outstanding, the new paint job blows me away every time I look at it and the blue LEDs in the engines were a nice touch.

However this Enterprise-A...the paint job looks bland compared to the early photos we were shown (and the standard promo shot most listings use). But honestly, how could they blow the alignment of the registry number alignment on the top of the saucer? That is the first place where my eye is drawn to on the Enterprise and it's totally off the mark on this ship. It's supposed to go in between the saucer grid marks, not over them! I don't really care about the misaligned pinstripes and some light bleed. But the registry blunder is keeping me from ordering this right now. s. DSTZach, is this an isolated incident or does the whole run have the top registry issue? If you guys re-release this down the line, can you guys look at fixing this?

It also appears that the sound clips are way too slow, everybody sounds too deep and gravelly in the video clips I've seen. This was a problem with the Enterprise-D as well, but I forgave that because of how awesome the rest of the ship was. Sorry to come off overly negative, but I've been a loyal customer for years and I've bought just about every ship, including some reissues, so I expect the same level of quality I've received before.
