For those of us who feed our Star Trek ornament addiction, today is ornament debut weekend.  Just got back from my local store with the 3 mass offerings: USS Vengeance, Legends Sulu, and the Devil in the Dark Diorama.  But the  pièce de résistance were the limited edition Vina and the Rocketeer!  Bought the only two Vina's available, as well as the only Rocketeer!   I'm wallowing in Hallmark Heaven!  If you want these two offerings, get out to your store today, these won't last long.  Good luck and Qapla' !!!!

It was a great Star Trek merchandise weekend for me!  First, got all of the ST Hallmark offerings for this year, including the limited edition Vina.  This morning stumbled upon 5 of the 6 Star Trek Hot Wheels pop culture vehicles at my local Target.  After the frustration of being shut out of most of the Into Darkness offerings, today, I'm a happy guy.

I might be interested in the USS Vengeance, but I'm not sure.  The dioramas don't usually do much for me.

I don't think the Hallmark ornaments are as cool as they used to be.  Maybe it's just me.  Plus, they're so pricey these days!  $34 for a ship ornament? Wow.

I'm kind of a completionist.  Once I had the first ST ornament (1991 TOS Enterprise 1701), the Hallmark ornament debut weekend became a tradition for me, as is the day after Christmas when I double or triple up on the Star Trek stuff at 50% off.  When you think about it, the Hallmark offerings are just about the only ST merchandise that you can find in wide retail release.  Seeing it online is one thing.  Holding, touching and then buying in real time is something significantly more fulfilling for me.  Yeah, the ornaments are a bit pricey, but given the lack of anything else Star Trek currently available in the retail world, I'll take it.

I agree that they arent as good, the sculpting kinda went downhill on them, at least for the characters IMO.

yeah what happened to the sculpt on the characters?  I stopped buying the characters when they restarted the line with the bad likenesses.

A friend who works for Hallmark told me all about the likeness thing. I don't remember HALF of what he said. But with SOME of them it's the actor, some of them approve, some of them don't. That's why 60's Batman looks kinda.....stupid. I always buy my orny's in the after Christmas sales as I really can't get myself to pay 32-34 bucks for a ship or some of the other Magic ones.

I have the Art Asylum Vina figure and the likeness is pretty dead on. I've never been tempted to buy any of the Hallmark figure ornaments or dioramas (other than the DS9 Worf) because the likenesses never seem to be there to me. Also I've seen pictures of the Vengeance orny online and it looks like a plain piece of black plastic with blue lights. I prefer my Hot Wheels version, personally.

Well one thing is they changed sculptors for the newer ornimates, so that is prolly key.
