Maybe they can slip into an alternate universe dominated by lens flares or evil doppelgängers sporting VanDykes.

Here's an idea, maybe they can stick to one universe and move forward in their timeline. This way if Orville lasts for many years they can avoid retreading old time periods in a sad attempt to reclaim their old glory while abandoning the essence of what made it popular in the first place. They can keep things fresh and original and move the stories forward without using the past as a crutch and an obstacle at the same time.

I know! I *really* can't believe BSG did that!

A sci-fi show with no time travel.
A show that's clearly a knockoff of Star Trek but tasked with keeping things "fresh and original!"
No, no. This is the path they chose. They need to own it. ALL of it.

I agree! I think its getting better with every episode. As with anything sometimes it take a bit of time to "settle in" with the cast, and I', really liking Seth.

Yes! the Pop Culture references are great... and even better is typically no one gets them on the ship so they have to say.. "never mind". I think that happens to people as you get older and your reference become more obscure.

Man, episode 3 was really thought provoking! One thing I’m liking in every episode are the pop culture references. I think someone else mentioned that too.
Hey, Discovery referenced the Beatles.... I guess they are just as classic as the Beastie Boys.

As I expected, it looks like people are tuning out:

Instead of doing a 20th century knockoff, they should have just moved forward. This show is essentially a prequel. People hate prequels. Everyone knows that. They should have ripped off a 21st century show instead. Like Enterprise.

I hope it lasts more than one season, but Fox sucks so who knows.

Fox certainly does have a terrible track record when it comes to scheduling. Football doesn't help, especially when you've got people boycotting networks due to protestors taking a knee during the national anthem.

I heard Fox is fixing that issue by not broadcasting the pre-game Anthem... so maybe they can get some time back then too!

LMAO, hypocrites. "Our attempts to frame you as disrespecting the nation by not standing up for the duration are failing, so we will go one better and just omit it entirely ... say what? removing it actually is disrespecting tradition? hey look over there squirrel!" Soon they'll take it out at the stadium too and they will all be fine with that somehow.

Well, if you want to take politics out of the sport, that's the obvious place to start. And players coming out for the anthem hasn't been a tradition for very long. I mean, eight years? Please.
