Wonder why it wasn't easy to do? The paint apps maybe? The design isn't terribly complicated.

Preview day - easily the most disappointing ship in the collection coming up for me:

#99 - Borgified Arctic One:

17424931_1907241499560402_72873778497491

And so to #100 - the Daedalus class USS Horizon (the ship from Sisko's office):

17457302_1907241776227041_25589791883997

I was really looking forward to getting this one, but it just doesn't look right - looks like a furuta model. :(

EDIT: My main gripe other than the overall hull colour, is the colour of the windows. The paint is too light for the blue to come across well. I'd really appreciate them being black (and to be honest, the hull colour being that of the TOS-Enterprise would be most welcome).

Damn that paint job is better than I thought, can't wait for the Franklin.

The Daedalus is... interesting.

I also don't like th light blue windows, and I feel th paint apps overall are pretty lackluster.

The in game model for STO is fantastic, which they'd use it as a base.

Yeah that's really nice. That guy they brought on board who fixed a load of errors with the other ships (Defiant etc), he's really good.

I was really looking forward to the Daedalus too. It's always had a special place in my heart.

I'll probably still buy it because I doubt I can get a better one, but I really hope they update the paint apps.

For those that might think I'm being too harsh on it, here's a comparison with Sisko's desk model:

C7lvjb4VwAAFI1a.jpg

Now, Ben did say that he'd asked for a few changes here and there, and he showed off some beautiful CG renders of it at a convention (there's pictures somewhere, will try to find them), but I have to say that the model really doesn't reflect them.
If you check my old posts, it's clear to see I give Eaglemoss a lot of praise, but I'll always call out the 'duds' in the collection, and this one is currently at number one on that list. I really hope there's some changes in the final version (however, there rarely is by the time those publicity shots have come out). :/

Adding the copper around the deflector and changing the windows from blue to black would make it much better.

Adding some black lines to the sphere would also be nice.

I imagine doing some customizing on your own on this girl wouldn't be too hard. I haven't done it before, but may try it here.

I've honestly no problem doing that, but I'll be waiting for some detailed photos first. Windows are no problem, and I just found a chrome pen the other day (one of the guys on the facebook page showed off what he'd done to an Attack Wing Scimitar - amazing), so I'll keep an eye out for a copper version.

Just as I was about to post this, I noticed Ben has posted some more pictures of it on his twitter, saying the preview version is 'far from the final version':

A little better, but it's still missing the copper ring.

The windows definitely need a different color, you can't even see them in his zoomed out photo,

Welp, it has been almost 5 years since a provisional list was posted that showed we would be getting the Enterprise J.  Back then it was planned to be an issue in the upper 30's.  Now, finally, I have received a shipping notice for it.  Perhaps the most intriguing curiosity to be included in this line, in my personal opinion.  Soon it will be mine!  Nice to finally catch that carrot on a stick that drew me along for 90 issues.

I just got my J, read through the magazine and impressed with how much back story they made for the ship. Plus I can see how the ship is connected in the line...not too far of a stretch

People are just starting to get the next two ships, one of which is the Academy Trainer, and it's gorgeous:

Is the swarm ship a normal issue, or a special?

Can't wait for that Franklin.

Special (look at the stand, t'is a big one).

The Franklin's paint job seems to be one of the best in the entire collection from the pictures.

I know not everyone wants this, but I don't mind a bit of weathering on my models, as it really makes them pop in my opinion. Some ships I wouldn't want it on (the Refit for example), but some are just crying out for it (Klingon BoP, Maquis Raider, the Runabout and the Defiant). Nothing too heavy, just a very light amount.
