Okay probably not the most exciting topic; for the past few years I've been buying the Ships of the Line series. However last year in the U.K. the calendar pretty much disappeared from shops and online retailers, we did get a 'Star Trek Ships' calendar with a load of shots from the first JJ film, but not the usual Ships of the Line. This year the Star Trek Ships calendar returns, but it now features ships from previous movies and T.V. shows. Most of the shots are standard publicity photos of say Voyager, or the D, but there are some odd choices too, and Vulcan cruiser from Enterprise, the Vulcan shuttle from TMP, a random shot from the Voyager space race episode, even First Contact space walk.

There are some nice shots there for sure, but I miss the Ships of the Line, so does anyone know why it has disappeared from these shores? And to encourage a bit of discussion any else have a favourite Trek themed calendar or shot from Ships of the Line?

I'll copy and paste this to Doug Drexler's facebook profile and ask the man himself.

Memory Alpha says that the publishing company responsible for the calendar changed recently, and that's probably what has led to availability problems.  But, it does seem there was one for this year and there will be one for next year.

The 2013 edition was the last edition to be printed under the Pocket Books umbrella, as per Doug Drexler's Facebook page, thereby suggesting it was to be the final one. Nevertheless a 2014 edition has already been announced, as Universe Publishing has taken over the co-publishing rights from Pocket Books in 2012.

Got a reply from Doug Drexler.

Hi Wayne! I really don't know. A couple of years back, the calendar went to Rizolli Publishing. They may not have distribution in the UK. They are much less communicative than Pocket was. In fact, I still do not know if there will be a 2015 SOTL.

Thanks for the replies, so the new publisher doesn't have U.K. distribution, I guess I will import. Hopefully there will be a 2015 SOTL too, I really have enjoyed these calendars over the years.

You know you can buy it on Amazon UK,right?

I usually get mine on sale right after Christmas as I always spend Christmas in the US and they're 50% off, lol! Just like all the Hallmark ornaments are, lol! I always get this one and the mini Peanuts one. And whatever goes through my head at the time of looking through all the calendars. Some of'em has SUCH gorgeous pics! LOVE the Monument Valley one! Really need to go there one day,if only to get it outta my system, lol!

You can also buy it from US Amazon, books have no limit when it comes to tax and customs,at least not to this dump of a country that I live in right now. Not the UK unfortunately, lol!

The only listing for the 2014 version on Amazon UK is private merchants selling it used. Last years version was on Amazon too, but I only ever saw private listings (at greatly inflated prices), and never actually Amazon themselves selling it.

Yeah, that is true. Well, just order it from US Amazon,or calendars.com,they have an AMAZING selection of calendars! Of course,if you have a Forbidden Planet in your town/city,they usually have it for sale as well. And you can even order it from them too.

So did you get your calendar sorted? If not,let me know and I'll be happy to pick up an extra one in the after Christmas sales while I'm in the US,if I see it. I always go searching for that one and a mini Peanuts one, lol!

Yeah I did actually find one on a U.K. website too. But thank you for the offer!
