DST says "spring", after the April 1 and 8 dates. I would think if it were earlier, they would share that.

I know you haven't seen a final sample, but do you know if there is some kind of button release then like on the TOS one? I know with the TOS Phaser I had that stopped working, the type 1 would always pop out because I didn't realize there was a release and was just pulling it out, which made it looser. My new one is slightly better, it isn't popping out nearly as much.

Unless of course how the trigger works is completely different from how the TOS one does, then I don't expect any problems.

Once I have one, I will do a video, but also read the instructions.

Really, couldn't it have movie Kirk on the photo? Like the communicator? And the "Try Me" hole is upside down.
Thank you for sharing, can't wait to open it.

I also wish they'd actually update packaging to go along with whats inside it, the worst offender is the AGT D that has TNG Picard on the front, and the normal D on the back.

I know its a cost thing, but how expensive would it be to redo some of the package art?

Probably more trouble than it's worth, from a manufacturing standpoint. These guys just don't have the capital of the big guys.

The problem isn't cost, it's the uniformed packaging for the line. Anything in the TOS timeline released will have that image of the original series Enterprise and Kirk. Anything from TNG including the TNG movies will have the next generation Enterprise D and Picard on it.

It's a brand recognition thing. The average fan or passer by will recognise Kirk and Picard whereas you begin putting Admiral Riker on the package and it becomes more niche. Also Kirk from TOS is more recognisable to people than Kirk from the TOS movies.

If anybody remembers Captain Berns from the old Art Asylum Forums and early Trektoy days, he's probably tickled pink that this is being released. That guy went on about this phaser for a really long time lol.

Works a lot like the TWOK Phaser which is cool, can't really tell how the Type 1 locks into the Type 2 though.

Looks good, can't wait to get it.

Magnetically I'd guess. Like the Khan phaser.

It is not magnetic. It simply locks in. The TWoK phaser did not have the structure to create a lock, which is why magnets were used.

And yes, packaging uses the CBS style guide artwork. I do not believe they have movie art.

The WOK phaser, Voyage Home 2-pack and screaming Kirk had movie Kirk on the package. But that may have been an older version of the style guide?
