That statement has "JJPrise" written all over it. That certainly would rustle the jimmies of a lot of folks(who would've preferred the Voyager, Defiant or Reliant). At this point I really haven't got a clue about what ship it could be and why it just hasn't been made official yet. Other than that there could be factory issues or it's just too soon to make official, I have no idea. But there's certainly the demand of people who want to know badly what ship it is.

So even though they KEEP SAYING they don't have the license you still believe it's the new movie Enterprise? Ok. I really do wish it is. lol.

Maybe with the new movie next year they can't release info if the ship has a little different design to it.

If it's a pending approval kind of thing, why can't they just say that instead of implying it MIGHT be at the next big event for the last couple years...

Why don't we all just relax and assume we won't find out for a good long time?  And if by some miracle we find out sooner rather than later, it'll be an unexpected surprise!

Ah we're all just talking dude, try not to look too much into it. :)

I will say once again though, a dedicated chatting area (whether it be a throwaway thread for all Trek collectibles, or something like an irc chat room) would be a great thing. I understand that some people view threads as places to get information, give a small opinion and then move on, whereas my own personal view is they're places to converse about the topics. I enjoy talking with people here!

Any ideas people? How about we make a chat thread to discuss all Trek collectibles, where going off-topic and around in circles is fine, and we use any announcement threads purely to break news, and post pictures/reviews once the product is out? Example:

"DST announces the USS Reliant - end of 2017"
This thread is for news and updates on the DST Reliant, and for reviews and photos when released.
Reactionary posts are allowed, but discussion of details (e.g. decals, paint etc) would go in the general Trek collectible chat thread.

Sound good, or too complicated? I'd basically like to have the freedom to talk and meander occasionally, but also completely understand that some people don't like that. I don't know whether he checks in with these threads anymore, but I'd love to hear FHC's opinion/get some guidance.

If people want to get upset or they dont its there opinion and there way of dealing with things.  I see no right or wrong in either.

Did we ever get any pics of the Trek figures from Mezco?

No, I mentioned it a little bit back but I guess it got lost in the back and forth. We won't see the figures until NYCC, it seems, now. They were assembling them at the booth and once they had the proto together they felt like they weren't quite ready to show yet, without tweaks.

So I have received my USS Defiant and I have to say it is impressive. It's already been put away for Christmas by my parents, but I love it. What surprised me the most was the box is specific to the ship and not just a new sticker like previous exclusives (even though technically it's a different ship.)

Thanks to J-R for helping me get it.

Just recieved, opened, assembled and dusted off my DST Defiant about 30 minutes ago.

While I'm impressed overall, I find it incredible that even at a run limited to only 200 units, DST continues to struggle with legacy QC issues such as uneven paint apps, glue slop and fingerprints.

Still, I'm happy to have her and I'm looking forward to seeing what DST has lined up for the big 5-0.

SDCC was a DST success in my book, 8/10.

I was torn on Defiant, but after seeing it, it's probably going to be a pass for me.

Defiant

This shot does her a little more justice, but unless you can get her at retail you're probably better of passing if you're on the fence.

It seems off that some of it isn't translucent, especially those bits under the saucer.

She is cool, but not for me.

Did DST make some of these available for purchase after the con as they said they might?
