Not everything is,depends on what you're in to. Some stuff is pretty cheap,and some stuff is a LOT cheaper on US Amazon.

Shopping around for a Bird of Prey and am wondering if anyone can tell me if the "HMS Bounty" version of the ship just includes the landing gear or if it also includes a proper display stand and if the landing gear can be removed.

The landing gear is molded onto a second battery cover.
you swap out the battery covers to switch between landing and flying modes.
The exact same stand is included, so you have more display options with the HMS Bounty than the other Birds of Prey. Just be sure you understand what you are buying: this one (HMS Bounty) has voice clips from Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (as opposed to the other versions with voiceclips from General Chang and Commander Kruge.

I'm not overly concerned about the voice clips, I just want something that will look cool on the stand. The HMS Bounty just happens to be the one I can get a good price deal on here in Canada.

in that case, the Bounty is the way to go, with its more display options than the other three.

(You can even fit the display stand in between the landing struts, if you are so inclined, and don't fear stressing the landing gear a bit to fit it in)

AND - the HMS Bounty retains the lights of the previous versions, so that you can use the "lights on" feature, and have all the lights on, even though it is not screen accurate (disruptors and photons were never fired in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home) I am very pleased about that

If I didn't already have the BoP, and was looking at the ones available, the Bounty would be my first choice. The landing gear is awesome, and so are the voice clips.

It seems the sound chip on my HMS Bounty BoP has already failed. And I just bought it back in April. Maybe I need to try new batteries. The thing that really irks me is that the lights don't work now either.

If the lights don't work and the sound doesn't work, then it is very possible that your batteries died. Depending on where you bought it, it might have gotten a lot of "Trying." The batteries it shipped with were put in over a year ago.

Thanks, Zach. I just took the batteries out and then put them back in and problem solved.

It might have just needed a reset, or the connection was bad, or it may be that you're squeezing the last bit of life out of those batteries.

Nigel, I'd definitely replace the original batteries just randomly. It makes a hell of a difference in terms of sound quality alone.

Hey peeps, by a random fluke I discovered the BoP (both normal and transparent) are available online from Target.com right now, and it would probably work with the code BESTGIFT for 25% off.
