Hey all,

I pulled my BOP out of storage, but for some reason the electronics aren't working.

Put new batteries in, I got about .5 seconds of an audio clip, but then nothing.

Any suggestions?

Mine had the same problem, I put new batteries in and the sound got stuck after a second. Switched from normal to try me mode and back to normal and it worked again.

I had similar problems a few years back but the fresh batteries did the trick. I love my HMS Bounty with the landing gear but I wish it had the sounds from the Star Trek VI model. :P

I always wondered this about the BoP and Excelsior, if they had a reset button hidden somewhere or not. Are these the only 2 ships released that do not have a reset button on it?

Thankfully (and knock on wood) both of my Klingon BoPs are still working but my NX-2000 decided to sit in spacedock. Changed batteries and flipped the Try Me switch, no lights/no sound :(

I had a similar problem with one of my Excelsior ships where it didn't work after I changed the batteries. Turns out that the battery sled wasn't making a proper connection when I put it back in. After playing around with the connections a bit I got it working again.
If I remember correctly the inside of the sec hull has springs which connect to the sled, you may just need to stretch them a bit to realign them.

Did you have to actually open the ship up or just mess around with the battery springs?

I only had to mess with the springs for the Excelsior. When you look at the battery pack you will see that the terminals have a raised plastic lip, if the springs catch on this lip they don't make contact.
I wouldn't risk opening up a ship, not the way they are done now. With the screws being covered you have to remove the covers which would damage them.
With the BOP if you left betteries in it, especially if they were the original ones, I would clean the terminals using something such as white vinegar in a cotton bud (q-tip). A bad battery connection would stop it working. It would help if you had a multimeter in order to check the voltages of the batteries. I would recommend alkaline batteries, zinc one are cheap but leak very easily and can ruin a toy if left in.

Guys, are there like different versions of the BoP? Is one like translucent and the others painted?

I'm new to these. Thanks in advance.

Yes. There are 4 variants. One is all clear plastic, no electronics - a SDCC exclusive. Another is painted and partially translucent with lights and sounds from The Search for Spock (Kruge dialog). The main painted version has audio from The Undiscovered Country. The fully painted version with landing gear has clips from The Voyage Home. All have moveable wings - three positions.

Super, thanks! Just the info I needed. Wild how many they had time to make, but I guess if the molds are mostly the same, it's possible to crank up the variations.

I have a feeling I know which one is most in-demand. Gonna try to get one -- I've never even had the Pmates version (I know, I know!), so I have a fear of missing out all of a sudden.

It's a toss-up between that and the D for me for best ship DST ever made.

I never had the PM version, but the DST BoP is unquestionably the better rendition.

I'm guessing you'll be trying for the Voyage Home version?

Worth it for the “double dumb ass” sound clip alone hahaha.
