I would need to see the finished product before I make up my mind totally. That missing impulse engine is bothering me but if Destructor is right and its just missing on this prototype that might just change my mind.

Heh, the neck section is rough, so this thing isn't quite aimed at starship model collectors, who have the DST model anyway. Some weird details throughout, but perhaps still an early prototype.

Maybe not aimed at full blown model collectors but it still looks to be a fun play feature. I joked around about how it might be cool to have a Star Trek/TMNT mash up Enterprise with Pizza launcher like the van on Facebook. Now I really want one! Many collectors complaining about this need to realize that there are other companies already making the high end products they want. Lets let the kids and kids at heart have their products too!
Who? EM is gone, DST hasnt touched Trek in years. We may have something from Corgi or Hiya, but who knows if/when those products will release.
Master Replicas may get a license to produce EMesque Trek ships, like theyve announced for The Expanse
and Stargate, but who knows.

Lately it seems like a bunch of companies, PM included, are having trouble selecting things to make into toys. We're either getting stuff that had been done before half a dozen times, or they're having trouble getting a sense for what would actually be in demand.
Spock from Wrath of Khan seems like one of the exceptions: Never done before, and actually in demand.
Meanwhile, SNW seems like the most stable of the new shows in terms of having a longish run.

It's challenging to support a single show when it only runs ten weeks a year at best. Obviously with Trek there's the benefit of other new and existing shows from which to harvest but they're clearly not all created equal, or equally toyetic.
I just want a Zero and I still haven't been able to find one in the wild.

We have box images!
LOL at the tag saying "Linear Phaser Array" pointing at nothing.
It looks like I may have been wrong about the wonky deflector being a photoshop snafu. And while the play buttons are rectangular on the prototype inside the box versus round on the one from the previous photos, you can see that the one in the box has no main impulse engine either.
Gods, this is such a swing and a miss for me. People on Twitter seem to like it though.
EDIT:
Oh, forgot to say, I got those images from the Amazon listing, where it's up for pre-order.
EDIT EDIT: Aaaaaaand, it's out of stock.

Im pretty sure those are the exact same call outs from the original version in 1993. I love me the Enterprise-d but this is a hard pass for me which is heartbreaking as i was hoping for a new starship this christmas.

I mean, neat, on one hand. My Target will get like two of these 6 months after they go on sale elsewhere.
Not sure who these are for, exactly. The hardcore fans can buy the old one all day long, and if they want something realistic they can pay $120 or whatever for the DST version, which is still the gold standard these days.
So is this for the casual buyer who might have never had one back in 1993 (or did and lost it) and doesn't have one today, but will spend dozens of dollars on this one at Target?
$39 is not baaad these days for something of this size. That's the main miracle here. Kinda surprised they were able to hit that price point, esp with a separating saucer. Unless the ship and the box are like half the size of the old one.

Yeah, well spotted. The US version probably didn't have all the translations, but the English language callouts match.

The prototype image with the hand reaching for the buttons indicates this is a pretty big model. The TOS E was also quite large, a nose bigger than the DST version if I'm not mistaken.

Hopefully the image on the front is what the model actually looks like, with that azteking. Otherwise it still looks like shit.

The image on the front is exactly the same illustration from the front of the 1993 box. It has details (like the torpedo launcher) that are missing from this sculpt.
1993 box for comparison:
