Ok, When the O'Neil was announced and shown I thought... "Eh ... maybe... lets see what the price point is and what they come with"
But now that DST has shown the sculpt for Jackson, I'm thinking "No"! That head sculpt doesn't look good at all, and I thought O'Neil was marginal.
what does everyone else think? is anyone going to pick these up?

I think they look terrible. They are some of the most generic looking 12" figures I have ever seen and do not plan to buy any of them unless they look much much better when the final product is released.

I was disappointed when this was announced and I'm a big SG fan. I would not touch these with a ten foot pole. But then again I feel the same way about the Retro Trek and they seem to be getting a good run.

I may try to pick these up if they come with a TON of gear and whatnot. Considering they're probably reusing everything between Daniel and Jack, some character-specific accessories are gonna be needed too.
I want to see:
Field jacket (both)
Tac. vest (both)
Holster with pistol and/or zat (both)
P90 (both)
Various extra gear, ie: canteens and bayonet (both)
Open Zat (both)
GDO (both)
SPAS-12 (Jack)
Sunglasses (Jack)
Hat (Jack)
Boonie hat (Daniel)
Kevlar helmet (Daniel)
Camera (Daniel)
Various archeology tools (Daniel)

I like the idea of them. The actual figures... not so much. JMW326 is right, they look really generic. If that changes I may think about getting them. It depends on the cost, too. Anyone know yet how much these will be going for?

At $40 MSRP, they should come with a ton of Gear. More than likely you won't get hardly any... which means they should be priced about $20 then.
I love 1/6 scale stuff, and was hopeful for this line, but it's not looking very promising. The only detail is that it "Comes with series accurate accessories" but that could mean just about anything!
If the head sculpts turn out better and I can get them on clearance, I'd pick them up and kit bash 'em to make them look right as Dragon or In-Line has plenty of good 1/6 scale military gear that would work.

Thanks for adding the link Donster!
Yes, in fact you are absolutely correct about SST (now SSC). When they first hit the market SST was selling stuff to the mass market big box and boutique B&B's, but they were among the 1st to see the demise in that market and thus re-invented them selves as more of a high-end direct to consumer type.
I think that SOTA really was planning to do the same thing, but they basically got hoodwinked by a manufacturing facility and really were out of cash at that point.
Basically SSC got out of the lower price point items all together...
I wouldn't mind seeing really good 1/6 scale Star Trek figures, and would probably support many of the DST lines if they went 1/6 scale like SSC (in fact they would be a welcome competition to SSC), but I would miss the 7" scale stuff.
To really be competitive, I think they should try and partner with someone like Dragon who could offer up ready made accessories cheaply so that they can pack in the goods with the figures... something like that would make a 1/6 scale star gate line a real hit!

The 1/6 scale Stargate figures remind me of the old GI Joes from my childhood. They do look generic looking and a lot of accesories would help sell them, thats for sure. I am interested to know how well constructed the figure body is. The head sculpts dont look all that great, maybe the same guy that made those awful TOS statue sculpts did these too. Remember the Kirk that looks like Jack Lord? I would like to see Star Trek 1/6 scale figures like someone else mentioned, that would be great, but so far these Stargate figures are not.

How can you not put the patches and army logos on the prototype? I am assuming those things would be on the final product. If they arent I think this line will be doomed before it even goes to production. In my head a comany should want to wow people with its initial offering. By not waiting to show off what the figure will look like (accesories and patches) it is really going to hurt presale IMO. I cant imagine many collectors signing up for those figures pictured. When are these figures supposed to be released?

Yeah, and Hasbro just re-released those 12" Joes before Christmas and they only cost $10 ea! That's well priced nostolgia! And a 1/6 scale TOS crew would sell if done right!

Couldn't agree with you more on this and your exactly correct about the patches... even with marginal headsculpts I'd pre-order these if it looked like they were adeal with cool accessories and the uniform looked great... but they look like they are in the standard outfit that came with those $10 Joes I spoke about above!
