Thinking about it though, If DST are serious about sustaining the license and doing what they can then taking it one step at a time might benefit the line in the long run but it is that fragile balance between spoon-feeding items to fans and running the risk of loosing the fan-base, or going all out and damaging the company, having to lay people off and still loosing the fans because of the reduction in quality. The main thing remains, DST needs to improve on it's quality - limiting their product out for release or slowing down the production on Star Trek items will hopefully improve the attention to detail and the quality of the finished product because they will have less to work on. I think at the moment the trouble is that the product isn't there and when it is, it's dogged with quality control issues.
On a side note though, looking towards the future of the franchises toy license, I keep hearing rumours that Hasbro are lining up to take it on for the 2012 movie... a Hasbro produced Star Trek Mr Potato Head is coming soon and normally they are attached to a larger line of toys (with exception to Toy Story for obvious reasons) so there may be more truth to the rumour than I assumed??? If they do, I guess it's going to be the new movie(s) as their primary focus. What I'm getting at is that having Hasbro onboard may bump interest in DST's line?
