Except for the figure accessories found in the Ertl 3.75" line and the recent DST "The Voyage Home" two-pack, no toy representation of this film's props have ever been mass-produced.

The phaser:

The communicator:

The tricorder:

Ertl's phaser (from the "Piece of the Action" website entry on STIII Scotty):

Yes, I would like to see DST do Trek III and V. I would buy any movie merch before I would buy TNG era stuff.

Search for Spock has the best props of the TOS movies. I'd get all three.

I'd love to see the Phaser! From the first time I saw it in Uhura's hands as she pulled it on Mr. Adventure to when Admiral Kirk used his on one of the Klingon henchmen down on Genesis , that phaser is one of the best looking ever designed IMHO. I'd definately save my shiney gold rocks to pick one up .

I'd much rather see TNG-era Tek first, or at the very least at the same time, but I'd definitely buy anything from TSFS as well. The reason I'd rather see TNG-era stuff first is that I want to be able to savor my TWOK stuff before the TSFS stuff is released. Some of my Playmates TNG stuff is no longer functioning from when I was a kid, and I'd like to DST to create some new TNG-era stuff.

Don't get me wrong, I definitely want that Phaser, communicator, and Tricorder, but I also want a FC Boomerang Phaser, Phaser Rifle, and a Type II Cobrahead as well. If I had to prioritize TSFS and TNG releases in a wish list, they'd probably look like this:

1. "First Contact" Phaser Rifle
2. "First Contact" Boomerang Type II Phaser
3. "Search for Spock" Phaser
4. "Search for Spock" Communicator
5. "Next Generation" Cobrahead Type II Phaser
6. "Search for Spock" Tricorder

I think DST's motto should be "you can never have too many phasers," because that seems to be the mentality that they took with TOS, so there's absolutely no reason that they should be able to please TSFS and TNG fans, quite possibly at the same time. If a TNG and TSFS phaser means sacrificing another TOS phaser variant, I'd definitely welcome it. Don't get me wrong, I love the TOS phaser, but I already have virtually every significant variant I can find, and duplicates to boot.

As far as that TSFS Phaser goes, this is DST and we're asking them to build a Phaser...isn't that like asking the NSA to be secretive? tongue.gif

I'd get anything from ST3. Although I think it is likely there will be a ST3 variant of the upcoming Klingon disruptor since DST always does variants and all it would need is a new emitter piece really.

Phaser and Communicator. It's never going to happen i don't think.Unless at some juncture EFX decided to do a prop replica. That being the case i'd settle for the phaser.
I think part of the problem is that STIII is one of the least popular films. So when DST are looking for retail partners it would be next to impossible for them to sell a STIII item no matter how good it is.Witness the disappearance of the Excelsior that they showed at last year's toyfair.
As it goes i've always loved STIII,not a perfect film but very good nonetheless.

^^ That is a matter of opinion about the popularity of STIII , I myself have always enjoyed the film imensly . I'm sure one day we'll see the STIII phaser at least , because DST does tend to listen to fans on ships and tech wants . Although we all may not get our wishes fulfilled when we want them , look at the fleet of Starships and Tech which has been released thus far . DST although it has had it's problems due to lack of retailer support , has put out alot of awesome items to satisfy the wants of the average collectors , such as myself , and the extreme collectors who collect everything and the variants twice and thrice over . Give them time . It's obviously isn't going to happen this year with a STIII phaser . So enjoy the Klingon Disruptor if that's what you choose to spend your money on . They may yet design and have ready a STIII phaser to be released in the fall of 2011 or spring of 2012 . If you want a STIII phaser tell them so write their customer service . Sometimes you gotta ask in order to let them know what it is you want .

Everyone seems to talk about TWOK and TVH when they talk about favorite Star Trek films, but i have to say that TSFS was every bit as good as TWOK and TVH, maybe better in some ways, and i certainly liked it better than TVH hands down. To each his own though. I hope we will see some TSFS tech eventually and i would like a set of TSFS figures as well, including Kruge and Maltz.

If ST III was or was not popular, the Phaser from III is one of the most popular.
