This sci tricorder is great IMO! Back in the 70's I would have given up a years allowance for this thing!

I love the new Science Tricorder. I always wished Playmates had made a larger one back in the day to more closely match the Phasers and Communicators they made.

I think i would have fainted if i had gotten one of these tricorders back in the 70's. Back then our imaginations were more active than kids these days, so yard debris made pretty good landing party gear, but one of these DST Tricorders would have been like finding buried treasure for me.

Back in the '70's? If you want to go to '79, I was two years old.. I'm happy having one of these now. tongue.gif (pity I wasn't into Trek as a kid... actually, I didn't even know it existed!)

Back in the 1980's, I spent a good portion of my allowance on a tricorder. But it was the ST3 model and it wasn't half as good as the DST at a quarter of the price.

I got the Sciences Tric Monday at TRU and my what a great thing to have. Spock sounds just right maybe a little slow but Nimoy has a baritone voice anyway so it's not noticeable. Science scanner no motor or sound but I not care nice multi led on it.

Push center button and the high whistle scan begins and the moire moves. Very nice and the sound lasts a while until you press the same button again and it stops.

I have no complaints...

I'll be picking up the Science Tricorder at Comic-Con from the DST booth on preview night.

Since the scanner is a different design, I know that the lack of a rotating sensor won't be an issue, unlike the Medical.

I've seen the Medical, and dispite the hand crank medical scanner, I thought it was pretty good.

Still waiting for mine across the pond. Cant say the voice speed is an issue for me, apart from the slight niggling feeling its not 100% right, I'm never going to use the voices anyway, so who cares what they sound like.....I'll only ever use the scanner whistle...and Im sure that doesnt matter if its a little high pitched....

Same hear Oxnard.

I'm adding it to the Phaser and Communicator as props to go with the TOS Uniform I got from Star Trek: The Experience.

Basically, it's for Comic-Con and other conventions where appropriate.

Once I get the new movie uniform, I'll use the Playmatest Phaser and Communicator as props.

Someone from theRPF has reported that the circuit board on the TOS Tricorder includes the sounds for all 3 versions (Med, Sci and Geo)

I like mine more and more as each day passes.

The scanner sound goes for a while when you push the middle button. Ran a test earlier and it went for 3 minutes without stopping, I pushed the button to end it.

How long the actual endurance I'm wary, I do not want to run my batteries down! Though I did put some Energizer Ultimate Lithium Batteries in it.

EDIT: Make that 3 minutes 8 seconds...

Well, I got the Science Tricorder at Comic-Con, and I like it.

The Moire motor is a little noisy, but aside from that, it looks good.

I managed to get one with Spock at the correct pitch, which was good, and I actually like the little handhend scanner device with te rotating color LED.

I might keep a Lollipop in the lower compartment for the sake of "Authenticity" smile.gif
