Anyone else watching this phenomenal series on Netflix?

I just finished episode 4, and I am really impressed with it. Winona Ryder's performance thus far has just been incredible.

Sooo....all that talk about the figures from McFarlane made me feel like dumping my current Stranger Things opinion on y'all...

I like it ok but I think it has enough shortcomings that once its over we might all collectively forget it, kinda like Lost. Now, I didn't forget Lost...I still like it...I bought McFarlane figures from it (now I am ready to get rid of them for space)...but I do realize most of the world forgot it for the most part. It is for this reason that I am not giving in to any temptation of Stranger Things figures though that Demogorgon may end up in my horror drawer...

What I really wanted to say, though, was this. I think the show, while an obvious nostalgia mashup of many different 80s classics, rests its parody/nostalgia/aping most prominently upon Stephen King's IT. And now this year after the IT (chapter one) film came out, I can say that IMO the film does a far, far better job of scratching the same itch that Stranger Things aimed for.

In other words...

Stranger Things is ok, even good...not ready to go as far as great.

IT was amazing.

Here's hoping chapter two is just as good.

Wrong thread? Lulz

I've seen both seasons of Stranger things. I thought it was entertaining and I enjoyed it. I really like the attention to detail in this series that makes it look, feel and sound like 1983-1984. Making a series look authentic is a big part of making it be worth watching to me. Discovery having ships that appear much more futuristic that the previous series even though it's set before most of them is about as ridiculous as putting 2017 cars in Stranger things, if they were to do that.

As many errors as the show has (this is history, not canon), I appreciate that Stranger Things gets the feel of the era right even if it gets some details wrong. As someone who lived through that era, some of those mistakes take me right out of the story briefly but then I realize I'm just being nitpicky and enjoy the show for what it is; a period piece that tries its best to tickle my nostalgia bone while delivering an entertaining story. And it does.

The reviews for Todd's figures aren't great so I may grab the Funko 4" figures (I prefer that scale anyway). Unless DST gets the rights to offer Minimates.

And I love that Whirlygig has a "horror drawer."  :D

I have a lotta drawers, mah dude.  Lulz.  I am a complete NECA Aliens collector (that's more than 1 drawer :P ) and I try and pick up at least one decent 6-7" version of all my favorite iconic horror/horror-comedy villains.  Those drawers reside down below my Disney Tsum Tsum bin!

I hear ya. My side collections include robots (from Daleks and astromechs to Gort from The Day the Earth Stood Still) and, yes, hey monsters from my favorite horror/sci-fi films. No drawers yet but lots of bins and shelves. Sounds like we'd get along just fine on a play date. :)
