Fortunately Target still had plenty of the Trek sets with the Enterprise kit, so I got the DVD version of that. It's truly a magnificent looking ship, and I wish the company that is responsible for it would make more at this scale! The only downside is the flimsy stand, the forked end should have really gone towards the rear to give the nose more stability. It seems like it will hold, though.

I simply can't believe how big the thing is, and how much detail they put into it. They noticeably didn't do much detail on the engineering hull, but the saucer is so eye-catching you don't really notice. Interestingly, their one major flub with the torpedo launcher seems to be a plus - I prefer the look of it without, and I can ignore that tiny spot mid-neck that's supposed to be it.

It sparks a really important question: how does this thing only cost $15-20?! The set was $30, and assuming the movie itself is worth $15-20, that leaves the Enterprise kit taking up at most the other half of the cost. But... the Hot Wheels ships are in the same price-range, and they're half the size and not even half as detailed? Somebody put this company in charge of a ship line! tongue.gif

Target.com sell the sets as well, not sure if they ship overseas or not.

$32.22 shipped is not a bad price considering that the Ship sets are regular priced at $34.99 before shipping for the Bluray and not much less for the DVD set. The Ship sets probably wont last too much longer at the stores and i am sure some stores are out already. I managed to pick one up and i have to say that i think the set is magnificent! This has got to be the best idea for a movie disc case ever! I have mine assembled and displayed along with my Playmates version and i am almost convinced that i like the movie set Enterprise better. I have seen many movie boxes and deluxe sets out there, but this tops them all IMO. Well worth the money spent on the set, if not just for the Enterprise model to admire. I encourage anyone who hasnt got one of these to get it soon before they disappear.

I got the BD Ship set from BB Canada, I bought it on the premier date and paid only $30 for it! The regular version is now going for 32 already. And that is Canadian too... It assembled flawlessly, be careful as you will not get them apart if you flub it up! The best part is that my 17 yr old son, who liked the movie, did not believe it was a DVD case, he thought it was one of my toy ships. He did think it was cool though...
But I can't display it with my Blurays now, I need to hide it!!

Target had the BD Ship case for $24.99 USD on premiere day, not sure how that equates in Canadian but that was pretty cheap for a 3 disc Bluray set with an awesome case like this!

Could any of the Canadians on here give us a little info on the Walmart Canada Lenticular exclusive sleeve version of the Star Trek movie? I cannot find any pictures of it online although plenty of sites report that it is an exclusive. Too bad Walmart here didnt have it, they would probably have sold a lot of movies like that. Sometimes i just think Walmart here is stupid the way they do things.

I will give it a look soon, and try to get a pic from my phone. I expect it is a card glued to the front of the box, like I saw other movies in Best Buy.

Can someone tell me where the 3D image that you can get using your web cam is? I do not think it is on my deluxe version... :S

I swear I saw Blu-Ray copies at my Wal-Mart on release day, but later on I tried to return my extra copy from the BB gift set to Wal-Mart (shame on me, I know) and the item wouldn't scan. At first I assumed it was a diff. barcode, but then I looked on their website and the Blu version clearly stated "not available in stores". I looked next time I was there and sure enough I couldn't find them anywhere. Now, today, I just searched their site again and it now says it is available in-store. ??? So at the very least it seems they delayed store release of the Blu for some reason, which makes little sense to me.

I am slightly annoyed with the Star Trek DVD. I love the movie. I saw it 4 times in the theater and have watched the DVD twice now. But I think it sucks that you don't get the deleted scenes unless you buy the more expensive version. I always pick up the standard version becuase I rarely watch the extra features more than once but was looking forward to seeing the deleted scenes. But they are not on the regulat version of the DVD. It has everything else. Gag real commentary etc... just no deleted scenes. Whats up with that???

My guess is if they put all of the good stuff on one disc why would anyone want to buy the more expensive two disc. There is a lot more than just the deleted scenes that yoy missed out on if you just got the basic 1 disc version.

I'll second VF on this JMW, it's the standard now. I too was disappointed when I was at my brother in laws house watching it and they best they had was the gag reel. I'm a real big Bond fan and I'm a bit frustrated with the bare bone extras we've gotten with the newer films. Yes, around the time of Quantim's release they finally got around to putting out a deluxe version of Casino Royale, which I luckily got for around $10.00. However, why not do things right the first time? I can understand when they want to upgrade and re-release it on blu-ray, but having multiple versions of the movie is retarded. Anyway, I usually pick up the 2 discs specials and I'm still kicking myself for not picking up the Hellboy 2 and Mummy 3 2 discs at Wal Mart on Black Friday. I can't remember if anyone had the new Star Trek on sale though? Whirly, I can tell you that I've seen the blu-ray version in my local Wal Marts. It could be that particular store didn't have that one in stock. Not all of the stores get the same stock, which is why I try to keep my receipts for dvd's.

It's sad where DVDs are going.. it wasn't that long ago that 2-disc or a very extras-filled one disc were the norm, and could be had for $15 and under during the first week. Now two discs are the exception, go out of print faster, and generally cost over $22 upon release. sad.gif The studios are really pushing hard for BluRay..

You guys get this edition for 25-20 bucks?! Holy ****, I had to pay 65 bucks for mine here in Sweden! Maybe not very surprising as movies are pretty expensive here compared to the states, but still, that's a big difference.

I also got the single disc DVD to have next to my other movies, since the case this edition came in was a bit too thick, takes up way too much space. I have the model next to the movies though, lookin' really good.

I agree about the Bluray thing too, BTW. It really pisses me off. Too bad I can't curse all I want here, because it really gets me riled up th way they treat DVD's nowadays. They put all the good special features on the Bluray and gives DVD's the shaft so that more people will turn to Bluray. They lower Bluray prices while keeping the same price for DVD's. In commercials nowadays, they say "On BLURAY and DVD", as if Bluray is the standard at the moment.

Bluray is the devil.

They do want it to be standard considering the life span of Blu-Ray will probably only be 5-6 years before digital downloads overtake it, they want to get as much out of it as they can while they can.

Off Topic : I seen an ad in todays paper for a DVD "Upconverter" player which takes standard DVDs and makes them 1080p quaility . I think it was either in Best Buy or Conn's.
