I was mesmorized by the Fantasticar on the new movie trailers and was hoping for a great toy to arrive. I was a bit disapointed in the commercials for the toys, but I decided to go on the hunt anyway.

I have to say that the figures, while lacking a bit in the likeness department, aren't so bad. I bought the Raging Thing, Blast Off Human Torch and Fire Blast Human Torch. I also bought the Fantasticar which comes with Super-stretch Mr. Fantastic

The figures have nice articulation for the most part. Raging Thing and Super-stretch have limited shoulder range (the prior having only lateral shoulder movement out to his sides and the latter none at all, but he is bendy and stretchy).

The Fantasticar didn't live up to the toy commercials lack-luster description. IT WAS BETTER! It seperates into three seperate peices as in the movie. I am not sure of the accuracy of the detail, but each peice has its own distinct look and molded details and each has a gimmick. The front section has pop-out wings that reveal those cool wind turbin things and two launching missles that only launch when the button is pressed completely in. The second piece has fold out and pull wings (three sets) and drops hidden bombs from the underside when you pull back the stick shift. The third peice has one set of fold out wings and an attachable cannon that will fire two more missles. The awesome thing about piece three for me is the pull up wind spoiler ... nice little touch. There arent many paint apps and no decal sheet, but there is a bit of detail that is cool ... instrument panels and steering wheel in section 1, instrument panel and stick shift in section 2, and an instrument panel in section 3. The Dodge symbol appears on the grill (very cool) and on the headrests of the seats. The bottom lacks some paint details, but they added wheels to make it look as though it were floating.

I love toys like this. Very playable and even oddly displayable. I recommend the Fantasticar and would go so far to recommend the figures as long as you aren't looking for premium display pieces.

I gather you mean this thing:

It's pretty cool lookin'.

I've been eyeing that line off for a while.

I was hoping they'd do a Torch that is not engulfed in flames. He actually looks a bit better than some of those damn ugly ToyBiz versions. You shouldn't have ugly figures of that dude!! biggrin.gif Does he look any good up close?

The ToyBiz Water Blasting Invisible Woman released from the first movie was an awesome Alba likeness, Hasbro definately have trouble with human looking female figs. But she is ok anyway. In typical me fashion, I noticed the hair should be longer for this movies figure.

Here's my Movie 1 figures: (Just need to get the Ben Grimm figure)

I'd like to pick these up, but they really disappeared quick after release. That's what I get for procrastination. wink.gif I'm sure they'll pop up again somewhere though, granted I've yet to see Sue.

Hmm... I've seen all of these on the peg... I just wasn't impressed enough to spend money on what looked to be essentially the same toys from FF1... in a smaller scale none the less, so they would look weird if all displayed together. FF has to be one of my Fav Comics. I've not even gone to see FF2 yet because FF1 was so disappointing to me.

It's not much better then FF1.

The only reason why I wasn't disappointed was because Chris Evans again has a shirtless scene, but that's probably just a personal preference.

You know, while the toyline is a little disappointing, I loved the movie. I consider myself a good FF fan and have enjoyed the creative licensing they've done with the movie. I mean c'mon, it's how old of a origin tale? They kept alot of the elements of the original story in both, even modernizing Doom's origin. So go and watch it on matinee, it gets 5 star rating in our house wink.gif Back on topic though, my feeling is that maybe this is the way to go with the Marvel Hasbro line. Make the movie figures for the kids and the folks feeling nostalgic about their childhood toys. Then leave the ML line for the collectors, hopefully with series 3 or 4 of that line we'll start seeing some changes. Something to keep in mind is there's a rumored FFC line coming out soon and they are to be in scale with the old Toybiz line. According to what I read online, the Silver Surfer figure is going to knock the socks off the old ML one.

Awesome news. Thanks for that Donster.

I am yet to see the movie...but I already know I'll like it.

There is this FF line that has appeared recently...is it the line you are talking about with a Silver Surfer coming out?

Ah yes yes...there were quite a few grumblings over that particular outfit chosen for Invisible Woman.

Did ToyBiz make any more figures from that comic line pictured above?

I'm not sure why people don't like that costume. I'm not sure that 411 News is much more than glorified super fan wish lists... obviously they have some insider info, but I've heard rumblings that not everything is accurate.

Anyway, if by worst ever outfit they mean this one...

Then I have to dissagree... the costume was short lived and it served a purpose, so there really is no need to get worked up about it.

The thing is Sue doesn't really have alot of costume variants, and that one is a nice diversion from her standard.

Those figures were loosely based on the Ultimate Fantastic Foour comic where Sue wears that costume. Reed should have been much younger so he blands the two realities. I believe the only other figure in that wave was the Super Skrull and it only lasted one/two waves.

Sam, to answer your question, I don't know how many sculpts that Toybiz did were handed over to Hasbro? But it seems very remiscent of when the Batman TAS was passed from Hasbro to Mattel a few years back, where we saw their sculpts under Mattels license. I just hope they go after the collectors if they do this line, as I'm not a customiser tongue.gif

Well, and from a toymaker's perspective, the legs would be easy repaints of the Elektra/Psyloche legs (and probably arms). In fact all it might take is just a repainting of the torso as opposed to a completely new mold for the just the "4" alone. Just MHO.
