Me too Alteran (subconsciously clicking my bookmark for this place)!
As for a contingency I'd like to hear FHC's input, but I'd recommend at the very least something like a twitter page, or even our own Reddit group - just somewhere where everyone who enjoys chatting/posting here, can stay in touch with the other members should the forum be lost for one reason or another.
It's not just a good idea, but it makes complete sense. Trektoy's 'escape pod', if you will. If the forum goes down for an extended period, get to the escape pod for information/status updates on what's going on.

I think a subreddit is the best bet, would probably be the easiest to set up.
reddit.com/r/trektoy would be swell.

Thought that the site had been transported to the Delta Quadrant! Sometimes we don't appreciated things until they're gone. Glad that wasn't the case here. Thanks, FHC, for all your efforts.

Yay! I am glad the site is back up, and hope FHC will be around a little more
Ditto!!!

I can relate to a lot of the above (particularly the checking, and the withdrawal symptoms). I was looking through my emails to see if I could check with other members, to make sure it wasn't just me. But it's back!
The "escape pod" idea Jay K sounds excellent. If anyone would like a Twitter account set up, I don't mind giving it a go if it'd help.

Cool well FHC hasn't been here since the day he posted this thread (one week ago), so hopefully he'll approve, but I'd say go ahead and do it guys. Only thing I'd ask is that you call each of them 'trektoy', as they'll then be easier to find for people who don't use reddit or twitter.
Alteran, I'd say go ahead and make the subreddit.
Redshirt, go ahead and do the twitter.
Whilst the subreddit could be used to post things in, let's keep the twitter as just a status page (maybe with big news as well, so new ship announcements from DST, but nothing else). I'd also say share any passwords with FHC (twitter login, and if he has a reddit account, make him an admin on the subreddit - not sure how that works, but you know what I mean). I'll also help with the twitter, just with status updates and the like.
I hope everyone understands that this isn't an orchestration of power or anything like that, definitely not looking to take people away from here. This is literally just a couple of back-ups should something happen to this place in the future, whether that be a malfunction (as was the case two weeks ago) or full-on closed down. (as I've seen mentioned before...). We've got a fantastic little community here, and I'd like to think that should the worst happen, and this place close/disappear, we'll have a way of staying in touch etc.
Perhaps through the reddit, we might attract some new members here (I've seen lots of cool people over there, not just Alteran!), and through the twitter account, we might be able to attract people like Ben. That's just me speculating by the way, only reason these should exist is solely in case anything happens here, we can switch to secondary systems.

r/trektoy has been created.
https://www.reddit.com/r/trektoy
I know very little about actually creating/modding anything on a subreddit, so if anyone wants to help mod just send me your username.
Edit: I'm starting to mess with some styling stuff, so if you go there it may look a bit wonky at times.

OK folks, I've set the Trektoy Twitter up:
https://twitter.com/Trektoy
FHC and Jay K have the equivalent of admin ability, I've added a quick profile picture, quick blurb, and link to the main forum. I've also followed the page via my main Twitter account, under the alias William T Riker.
Anything I can do, drop me a line!
