So I just picked up this bad boy for $20 and the old AMT Lights and Sound Enterprise-A for $40 today......the last i remember, the Enterprise-E was going for mad amounts of $$$ on ebay years ago. Did the price go down after the release of the DST E-Es??

Both I found at an indoor market, the E-E was scotch taped up and just the parts were rattling around and i was hesitant, but figured if anything missing i could probably find it online. Low and behold, everything was in there except the stickers and im guessing the extra battery cover (if it came with one?)

After the unboxing, i realized that it had an incredible amount of "dirt/sand" caked on it and after wiping all of the parts down.........the lights and sound still work!!!

Ah, and such a convincing retooling job they did too :)

I've never come across the Insurrection model personally...Are the sound effects the same as the First Contact -E?

Ill tell you what, after the FC one this is like something from DST! No. Very different set of sounds.

The sounds are somewhat more believable to the movie, unlike the FC version.

When I was a kid I bit the bullet and bought a First Contact E-E. I was thoroughly disappointed when I opened it. The Insurrection E looks like a marked improvement.

Same here and I remember looking at the Insurrection one and putting it back thinking I would be disappointed again. Glad I snagged this one!

Despite its inaccuracies - the Insurrection Enterprise E is undoubtedly Playmates finest attempt at the ship - and the Captains Yacht is a wonderful (surprisingly accurate) inclusion.

Speaking of sound fx - they are much more believable as 'Star Trek' sounds (Warp speed, Torpedoes and Weapons Charging - I think) and are light years ahead of the crazy sounds on the First Contact Version!

Weapons charging? I think you're right. I thought it was shields going up, gonna have to read the box when I get home. Knowing Playmates, they might have said it was Picard and Worf singing.

Now I'm really curious about those sounds - I have the First Contact version with its, let's be clear here, aesthetically horrifying and utterly generic sounds - any chance you'd make a short Youtube clip of the ship running through its sounds, Rizzo?

Ok everyone, here is the link for the video and I play all 3 sounds. Also I looked on the box and there is no description of what they are, so guesses are good. Sorry if the video sucks but its the first one i made......nothing like Prometheus and Will Decker!

The First Contact version didn't list the sounds on the box either, as I recall. They were described in the instructions ('Cloaking device'???)

Maybe it should have been marketed as "Section 31 Enterprise" lol

Indeed. Playmates were working from non-final designs and story outlines when they produced it. There's a distinct sense that they expected the E to carry over a lot of the Defiant's traits. I seem to recall the square near the bow being referred to as a pulse phaser, too!

Thanks very, very much for the video, Rizzo! Your voice is way cooler than I expected!

The look of that version of the ship is so much better than the awful FC version, and the sounds and lights are so much better, too. It still, as you said, sucks, but it's an interesting curiosity. What might have been, if Playmates had had a proper crack at the final design, I wonder?

Lol, uhm thank you? Ya, it would have been interesting considering the other releases. Still love the Defiant they made.
