I, through some luck, got an original AA Enterprise-A and I absolutely love it. The biggest reason? No light bleed! My preference is for a ship equipped with 'ship' sounds, 'warp pass-by' and what not. I also prefer them un-painted like the Excelsior; less chance of paint-app flaws. It's still cool that they're re-releasing them.

Hopefully this image puts your mind at ease regarding the sculpt and colouring of the Enterprise-A:
Oh, cool! The stardrive section windows are white!

I don't collect action figures, busts or the like (model people basically lol), but when I saw it the other day, that Worf bust (bank?) looks spot-on from the front.

I hope they put new batteries in the E-A and Kirk doesn't sound like he is having a bad "trip" like something out of H. S. Thompson's 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas'

It looks like the deflector is dark on the version from toy fair, that could just be the lighting/distance, I like the lighter blue deflector more myself.

It looks as though it is molded in color, that could significantly reduce the 'light bleed'. It looks good as does the NX Excelsior.

That photoset's paint is not final (registry number curve, etc.), but the video I shot is, as is the Toy Fair display model.

Hey everyone, first time poster
As of a couple months ago I started putting together a collection of the AA/DST ships, which I had always wanted to do but never got around to it until now. Anyway with the only currently produced refit being produced being the "translucent" version (blegh!) I got lucky and picked up a brand new AA 1701-A on Ebay for $60. I have to say compared to the TWoK version it is light years ahead. Better/more accurate to the screen version and studio model in every way, no translucent plastic, no light bleed! Also the nacelles are flawlessly aligned... my DST TWoK version has a TON of nacelle wonky-ness.
I have the new A preordered from BigBadToyStore so I'm really curious to see how it stacks up against the original AA release.. as long as the paint apps are more uniform and the light bleed is taken care of it should be really nice.

Thats a damn good price for an original A, how'd you manage it?
I'm really hoping the new A is just as good in regards to light bleed as the original, based on videos it seems there isn't any. I'm really looking forward to getting her.

Just watched ebay for a few weeks and "sniped" one that seemed to have gone unnoticed. Now I'm keeping my eyes peeled for one of the original battle-damaged versions from AA (the self-destruct one) for a halfway reasonable price...

I love finding those kind of deals, I got my Playmates Voyager for $12, and my Defiant for $30. Was trying to find an A for a while at a good price, but with the rerelase I haven't been paying attention to them on ebay.

Hey ShodanTrek! Very awesome find. I had one but it wouldn't stay put together. The lights were also really dim. I do agree that most of the surface detail was really spot on. I'm looking forward to the voice clips on the new one.
