The opening bit of "Terminal Provocations" got me to laugh out loud. Well done.

The over-the-top security chief was fun. The space battle was unique. I loved the way they both mocked and one-upped every holodeck episode.

Okay. I'm ready for Lower Decks Minimates.

My favorite Easter egg from the most recent episode wasn't even a reference to Star Trek.

The penultimate episode was a bit of a letdown but the finale did not disappoint. Hopefully season 2 performs even better.

I have to say that after being dubious after episode 1, the finale was excellent.

I am really looking forward to season 2 now.

The 9th episode poking fun at the movies was fantastic. All the lens flare, gratuitous ship shots, the credits, and especially the music was amazing.

The 10th episode was a surprise, and was probably my favorite.

The show gradually ramped up the quality over the season. I'm a sucker for fan service, so sue me, but it meant I really liked Ep 8 - "Veritas". The one with the "trial" and all the disjointed flashbacks. It was so gloriously soaked in Canon Star Trek.

Then "Rise Of Vindicta" was just such a home-run. In 22 minutes they managed to lampoon the common Star Trek movie tropes, stick a subtle middle finger up at JJtrek, give all four main characters something interesting to do, and simultaneously create an exciting and HILARIOUS film-style episode with gorgeous visuals... and on top of all that, they went deep with Mariner's exploration of self in a super interesting, thoroughly Star Trek way.

It was magic. I instantly declared it the best Star Trek production in at least 20 years.

Then the finale gave it one hell of a run for its money. A shocking tonal whiplash in the intro, some sustained character development, and then INTENSE action with plenty of laughs... and an ending that just filled me with joy and has had me sighing contentedly all week. And "No Small Parts" is a genius title.

From a rocky start, LDS has become the Star Trek show I've been waiting for. It's so depressing that Discovery has me dreading "new Star Trek day" again now. I may not bother with season 3. Roll on Lower Decks season 2!

Lower Decks is by far the best of the new series, and its not even close.

I never expected that.

Does anyone here watch Lower Decks and know the reason they keep adding "little tweaks" to the evolving opening credits?

The only tweaks I've noticed are the season 2 revamps. They refit the ship after the events of the season 1 finale, so they're using that version of the ship now, and the space battle they retreat from has gotten more complex... Are you saying there are episode by episode changes I'm missing?

I just wonder why they keep changing the space battle? First it was Romulans vs Borg. Next it turned into the Borg, Romulans and new Packleds. Now it's all 3 and Klingons.

Last season I remember reading that battle was supposed to be the tie in to season 1 Picard. Is the ever changing battle supposed to tie into Season 2 with Q snapping his fingers??

The slug, maybe nothing is going on with that but I feel like that's changed too

The slug might be clinging to a refitted Cerritos. That might be the difference.

As for the battle, I just think it's a gag that keeps getting more elaborate. Once a season the Cerritos jumps back to see how the battle's going and – "Aw, hell no!" – there's yet another reason to warp right back out of there. Imagine how many species will be involved by the time the series ends.

This show remains fun to watch, but only as a guilty pleasure, because it really honestly can't be taken seriously.

As often happens, Alteran195 and I are of one mind: LDS is my favourite modern Star Trek show, and I did not see that coming. It's the only one that feels like it's written by people who like and get Star Trek the way I do. I'm still evaluating Prodigy, but even if I get to like that show well enough, LDS is not in danger of being unseated. I like it better than Enterprise.

After what happened to the Pakled Planet, it may have to be taken seriously.

Is it safe to say, without spoiling last week's episode, that....
I want a damn Moopsie.

Forget that animatronic/Bluetooth Tribble that did or didn't get released.
I want a damn Moopsie.

Anyone else??
