I think I read somewhere that the minimates aren't considered specific likenesses, so they don't run into the same problems as with action figures.

These do look cool, though- and TRU already has them up for preorder. Though I think they're a little confused; "Leo Ben and Starbuck"?

They also have a couple other exclusive minimate sets up for preorder, Cheif & Mortor Pack Cylon, Tigh & Captivity Six, Ellen & Simon, Tory & Anders, and Athena & Cylon Centurion.

Interesting. But I'd prefer the classic show minivehicles that were displayed years ago.

With BSG-R, I'd much prefer the Mark II to any other vehicle.

Weren't those Minimates vehicles displayed a couple years ago? Like back when the Wave 1 figures were announced? Were they delayed till now?

The AA blog says something about a different format of them being planned years ago, something more Lego-like (though of course they didn't say Lego.)

No. they were not delayed. They were originally shown a few years ago and lack of interest basically canceled them until the partnership with TRU recently revived them.

Yeah, I'm thinking these should sell pretty well. I hope so anyway. It'd be cool to see a minimate-scaled Raptor someday.
