Here is where I am at....... Tons of hours put in.... The decals are just intense..... tg1t8rU.jpg
The saucer was a test run.... I really like the paint misting.... It toned down the toy like aztek.....4TWE5Ov.jpg

So tight! Keep that beauty away from the Duras sisters!

I think Trek missed an opportunity in having an LGBTQ character in the mix during the Berman years. Had things been up to Gene and a lot of the writers Im sure there would have been. The futuristic setting would have been perfect to show such a character in a very non-threatening way. Dax did have some good moments that skimmed the surface of gender issues. Im sure there were a few other moments along the way as well.

I have to treat DSC as basically a reboot.  That’s the only way my geek logic can accept it.  In my mind everything else minus JJ stuff was the first Trek universe.  This is basically the third one...that sometimes isn’t really Trek at all.

VF, it doesn’t really matter whether you hate LGBTQ folks or not.  Given the chance you would/will elect people to office that share your point of view.  They in turn will seek to rollback or limit progress made to allow people to love who they want to love.  This sounds like the beginning of limiting other “lifestyles” as you call it.  That doesn’t sound like an open mind to me.  In your version of “morality” you would welcome laws that enforce your beliefs, again limiting others.  Those who really want to let everyone live how they want would support laws that allow for the most people to have the most freedoms possible.  Gene Roddenberry was a big time liberal and his Star Trek philosophies reflect that in major ways.  If you think Kirk, Picard, or any other captain would vote for Trump you might be taking too much Ketracel White.

I’m really curious to see where the story will go.  Also great to hear from Frakes on the latest After Trek!

Voyager had some problems, but as a kid I loved the moving nacelles so that made me look past her flaws.

The biggest disappointment for me was the Defiant.  The sculpt was weird and that underside was just wrong, and not even painted.

#90273 Nothing at SDCC 2017?

Posted by djc242 on 22 July 2017 - 01:53 AM

Yeah, didn't see any preview items for Trek there on Friday when I picked up the Cheeto-prise.  Not sure if I'm keeping it to satisfy the completist in me or if I'll sell it.

Anyone else going to be in San Diego?

I'm sure our favorite blogs and power Twitter Trek-ers will post any pics up at warp speed but I'll try to post updates too.

Nigel, I wasn't talking about your posts, they were not the entertaining ones I meant. Sorry for the confusion.

I said "meant to replicate," not "reproduce to the finest detail." If I meant that, it would literally be on fire. It's obviously more an homage than a literal interpretation. Think of it as the way the crew envisions the ship as it plummets to the surface of Genesis. Burning, but still intact, still their home, still the Enterprise. Kind of like a Force ghost! (Also that wrecked Enterprise is pretty ugly.)

And I always expect criticism here, fair or otherwise! I really am only here because some people seemed happy to hear from me after I came back to clarify the McFarlane news, and because my absence seemed to suggest that we had given up on Trek, but clearly it was a trap. :D

The gold A was kind of a Plan B last year. I'm sure we'll do it again. But we've had this one in the works for a long time. I think it will do well!

Thanks for serving up some internet snark.

I don't default to criticizing DST releases, or you for that matter but thought this one fell short in my opinion.  The Romulan Bird of Prey is amazing and exceeded what I thought could be done with that ship.  Same goes for almost all the releases in the last few years.  Sorry if I didn't give you the compliment sandwich.

I hope it does well so you guys keep on with new designs.
