What type of paint do you use for the customs?

When I did a grey suit Wesley from the cadet uniform back in the Playmates days, I used model car paint... it was way too tacky feeling though... like it never dried.

I want to do a Lieutenant Ro from the DS9 novels too...

But I would love to place an order for Colonel Kira... the head looks perfect on a Crusher body... its too big for the Ezri Dax body.

Moran, et al. If the paint does not seem to dry, it probably will never do so. Even if you were to try a sealer, the chemical reaction would continue to react like rust. It seems odd that the plastic would be doing that with, I assume, enamel paint. I had the same thing happen to my rubberized parts, although there may have been a bit of an issue with the plastic too. I recommend using acrylic paints on figures. You can use enamel over top of any painted surface for details or just to use your favourite colours, provided you let it dry first (you can not do the opposite as far as I know). Also a primer will work, but I have not found one that will not chip off so far.

Those are some of the coolest customs I have seen in a while!

Winn & Nog are breathtaking & Kira looks fantastic too.

I always loved Winn - she was such a great villan! I loved whenever Kira and Winn had a scene together because it always felt like Kira was one second away from tearing Winn to pieces.

I loved to hate her...which I assume was the point of a character like that. You can't go wrong casting Louise Fletcher as a bad guy!

You have baddies like Shinzon that no-one really gives a crap what happens to them, & then you have people like Winn who everyone passionately wanted to see die! She played the part wonderfully.

I really felt sorry for Kai Winn... she was such a sneaky bitch... but in the end she knew that she should have listened to the Emissary.

I want my own customer Colonel Kira... sad.gif

Hey Moran - Tiberius is exactly right! I used acrylic paints on all of the customs here - acrylic seems to adhere to the plastic better than anything else. I've used higher end model paints, and also the stuff you can get at Wal-Mart for under a buck - they both work the same way!

Your custom Kai Winn is very nice.

I've gotten to almost like Kai Winn lately. I mean, I hate her, because we're supposed to, but I recall a recent episode I saw (my cousin and I are watching through seasons 5-6, we're in the middle of 6) where Kira insinuates that because Kai Winn wasn't in the Resistance she wasn't suffering for her beliefs, and Kai Winn responds with something about being in a concentration camp for years because she was a religious leader. I thought that was cool, sometimes Kira isn't very likable. Anyway, should miracles happen and DST release a Kai Winn figure, I'd buy it.
