Yeah.... thats where I'm at Alteran195. I was actually very disappointed with the role play Playmates turned out for the 2009 movie. I believe I actually returned them. 

 

So far.. Discovery Merch is looking good!

I agree with both of you.  Whether the show is good or not, the props are great and will be collected by me.   I can't wait to get ahold of one of those communicators! 

I'm glad there are a few others who also didn't care for the Nolan Batman trilogy!  

It wasn't the "dark" aspect of it that I didn't like.  I'm fine with Batman being dark...he's a dark character.  I just couldn't stand Bale's whole take on Batman and I'll go to my grave saying that the only reason people "loved" Heath Ledger's Joker is because he died somewhat tragically right before the movie came out.  What I saw was him doing a slightly more crazy (and less entertaining) version of Nicholson's Joker. 

I'm just hoping for a decent Discovery communicator.  If the tricorder & phaser are cool in the series, I'll want those too! 

CBS needs to take a look at the success of Star Wars and how well they stick to canon.  

I won't claim that I've watched them, but I believe they even stick to canon in the SW animated shows. 

CBS can go fast and loose with Trek canon, but they do it at the peril of the franchise, IMO.

Head's up regarding the Discovery itself - Trekyards are adamant that it's been changed majorly from that first reveal version, which we can still see in this trailer.

So yeah, Discovery doesn't look like that now - something to bear in mind.

I believe I'm in the minority here, but I hope they've changed it.  A lot.  That design was way too McQuarrie / Star Wars for me.  

Nothing against Ralph or SW, but they belong in their own universe. 

I've never had any problems pre-ordering from Rick at New Force Comics.  He's a great guy and businessman.

I would say that LA is definitely SoCal.  I don't live in CA, but I'm pretty sure. 

I ordered mine from thinkgeek on Thursday.  Still haven't received notification that it's shipped or anything. Can't wait! 

While it certainly looks to be a very nice replica, Roddenberry claims they're going for "affordable" but high-quality prop replicas.  Maybe I'm in the minority, but $499 is not affordable by any stretch of the imagination.

I saw it last night.  I liked it, but I think I liked "First Class" better.  It was a good story, but maybe too "epic".  Or maybe it's my old brain that just can't get around a really big story?  It least it had the angry elf dude from Elf in it.

Anyway, I think it's high time that they give Jennifer Lawrence / Mystique a movie all her own.  I could watch her for hours!

I don't care all that much for the TNG era phasers.  They were cool (and I bought all the Playmates versions) but I'd MUCH rather see DST do some accurate TNG-era tricorders.  Especially the later seasons versions.  That would get me very thrilled. I've always wanted an accurate TNG tric and could never afford the replicas.
