I just really want the bridge pieces at this point. It would be criminal not to get those at the very least considering the amount of money people have already invested. McCoy and Chekov figs should be easy enough head swaps for even the newest of customizers and it shouldnt take much more work to create a quasi MOC version either.

Yeah, if we get anything I'll bet it's Chekov and McCoy duty uniforms since they don't require new tooling cost.

How appropriate to use a Raiders of the Lost Ark line from the real Sallah to address our missing in action blogmeister!

I am not sure if this is correct, but isn't the bridgepieces being referenced to, belonging to the missing International sets? You know, the ones that did not come with ANY pieces. I could be wrong, but that was what I thought the items in question was about.
Was it possible to make the sets by doubling up on the current figures? Weren't X1 and X2, the same as J1 and J2, meaning just move the parts to other departments, or were you getting half a console?

You can complete the front half of the bridge by doubling up on certain parts, but the back half has unique pieces:  notably, the console and screens (without chairs) behind the captain's chair, and the consoles along the back with the circular center piece.

I just want them to finish out the 12 inch series. I don't care about the other size figures.

Could that have been part of their problem? Too must diversity? 3 in, 6in, 12 in,..... Maybe too many iron in the fire?

Since I was only interested in the 3 3/4" scale I'm inclined to disagree. I felt $30 for the 12"ers was a bit much. If Sideshowtoys would have had the 12" line though that might have been great. They did outstanding work with Universal's Classic Monsters! If they don't bring back the 3 3/4" figures with some TOS and TNG thrown in to keep it interesting, I think I will pretty much be through with collecting Trek for a while. Repacks and Kirk and Spock with no othercharacters is starting to loose it's appeal.

This is terrible news.

I wonder if eliminating the 6 inch line from the get go would have helped prolong the other line's life?

Meh...probably not. Unless they would have used the time they saved on improving the quality of the other two. I think they missed the boat not making the 6" a 7" line. I pretty much lost ALL interest in any ST '09 Playmates stuff when I heard/saw they would look silly next to the rest of my stuff. When the 3.75" went on sale I thought maybe...but every time I looked at them I just shuddered a little. Not the quality of their previous stuff at all and totally incompatible with the rest of my collection at this time.

Now...if they help bolster the ailing DST 7" line...I might check out the smaller size if the quality is there. Time will tell...

I think it might have if retailers didn't order more of the 3 3/4 line to fill the space they ended up using on the bigger figures on shelves. Then the stores would have gone through their stock more quickly, and they'd be more willing to carry the line in fall 2009 with wave 2, and possibly 2010 with more waves.

If the 6 inch line didn't happen but then stores ordered double the 3 3/4 line, we'd probably have the same problem that we have now. But then again, nu-Spock and Uhura might have been a little less rare.

I don't understand this statement.

I was meaning that there was no interest in the rest of the franchise generated by this movie. It was self-contained and (not to sound too harsh) self-serving. And tbh I'm going to echo what others have said...it didn't really excite the younger viewers enough to want to run out and buy the toys.
