lol hmm no thanks, they remind me of the Mego figures for Star Trek: The Motion Picture - these look dated.

Are they perfect? no. Do they look better than the 6" figures? yes. And they have new articulation that at least matches some of the figures out these days. Not to bad at all. These are mass market toys after all and not high end collectables.

Just so I am clear. I believe we are looking at (from left to right)

Sulu (not a bad likeness at all)
Old Spock
Uhura
Pike

I'll get some of these.

Thanks for posting the pic, Sallah.

I had to do a double take. That Pike looks like TOS Shatner! These look like they will be awesome!

I MAY pick these up if I see them in stores, just for my inner-kid. Just like the wool knit sweater on the 6 inch Kirk, are the new uniforms supposed to be, longer, on the torso? I havent seen a good screen shot to compare the new uniforms.

Well, I think these look damn good, especially after worrying about them after seeing that 6" pic. I might just pick up a playset or two to go along with the set I preordered from Rick wink.gif

There's only one question I have, which is why Uhura's in the cadet uniform. I wonder if Playmates is using "Cadet" as something else, or if this is a Uhura from a second line and not the first? Hmmm...

Sulu looks weird with the same body as Pike, as though his torso has been stretched. And Uhura reminds me of the Oompa Loompas from Burton's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." Interestingly, that doesn't look like Spock to me. It seems that going after an old Spock likeness has left them with a very decent Sarek.

Considering the scale these certainly look acceptable, and are pretty much what I was expecting. The main selling point for me for this line will be the playsets. Historically when playmates starts a line if it does well they seem to take off with it and push it to it's full potential (ie. TMNT, Star Trek through the 90's). I kind of wonder if this does well and they exhaust their supply of Star Trek XI characters if they might go after DST's license for all of Star Trek.

I know that companies can buy certain parts of a licenses so I would be just as happy if DST kept thier license for what they are doing now but Playmates got the license to do 3 3/4" for all versions of Trek. Or maybe DST is waiting to see how the Playmates line does to see if they want to do one as well. Either way I would love to see 3 3/4" Star trek figures spanning all of he shows.
