So, my XL Defiant just arrived here in the UK.

The good; its absolutely fantastic. Its huge, the detail is great, it sits on the stand perfectly and in general to me is the best, biggest Defiant model I've ever seen. Its a must have for me.

The bad; the changes to the paint application make it look a little more...toy like. I can't say exactly why, but thats the only difference between it and the regular sized issue. It might be that the finish is glossy perhaps, who knows. I mean it still looks brilliant, don't get me wrong. Next, and the worst thing...the deflector nose. Mine has a wobbly and droopy nose, its totally loose. If you pick the ship up and move it, it rattles and even when static its drooping way too low from where it should sit.

Mostly great though and the nose would be fixed if they send me a replacement.

My XL Defiant arrived today, and it really does look like a toy rather than a model. My nose is also completely loose so I think it might be how it is designed rather than a "fault"?

I don't like to tweet Ben complaints, but if it being loose is a 'feature' I'll be pretty annoyed enough to.

The XL Defiant is a nice "in between" size with the smaller EM and the Playmates or AMT version. I've always hesitated to get the 1/1000 scale resin model, but this looks nice enough. Needs some work on the paint to make it more accurate, though, did the same with the standard issue.

Other people on Facebook have reported the nose is completely loose as well, so it seems to be a "feature" rather than a fault. As soon as I took it out the box it just felt like a big toy to me, it's my least favourite XL unfortunately and I prefer the regular sized Defiant.

It is very disappointing.

It seems every XL has some huge issue. Be it paint misalignment, paint inaccuracies (or the bridge being wrong on the A, or these loose parts.

The Reliant looks awesome, but Im curious what will be wrong with her.

I am gutted that the paint isn't the same as on the mirror universe version. As much as I'd still love it, I'm going to pass on this. The new 1/1000 model is easy to make, and looks too perfect.

Yes the nose of mine isn't like theirs at all, maybe there was a bad batch?

Yep mine is totally different, sits much lower and doesn't sit right at all.

I had to glue the nose of my standard issue Defiant back into its place more than once because the model fell off the stand. The nose was as lose as on the XL Defiant, so my hopes are high to just detach the nose carefully and glue it back onto the model once I have it. If there's one thing I hate on models, it's wobbly out of place parts (and misalignment, of course).

If it comes out decent, it's a definite for me. I'd love to hang it from the ceiling, at a slight angle. :)

Surely one that it falls off of if you fart near it, if precedent tells us anything...

I'm surprised the nose of my Defiant hasn't broken off with how many times the damn thing falls off its stand whenever I walk by the cabinet its in.

I like how the smaller ships registry is easier to read than the larger one:
