Hey Sallah,

He did technically wear a yellow uniform, although it was the standard uniform like Chekov & Sulu and only in the publicity shots.

Take care,

I asked for this at Christmas that year. I knew where my Mom hid all my presents the last few years I got toys for Christmas. I checked her hiding place, saw this and was super happy. Christmas morning it was no where to be found. I didn't say a word but was deeply disappointed. Mom told me she bought it and before she wrapped it she (as she did w/ everything) checked to make sure it was all there so should could exchange it if it wasn't. She said it was so soft and fragile she was afraid I'd break it and took it back. The only time my knowing ahead time came back to bite me. I never looked again. Ah bittersweet memories. Thanks Sallah. tongue.gif

Serves ya right for sneaking a peek! wink.gif But seriously, she was probably right. I'm over 30 now and I'm afraid I'll break it just moving it. There's no way it would have survived my play time as a kid...

On a side note, I snuck a peek one year when I was a kid (actually on accident) and saw a bunch of MASK toys I was getting. I have to say, it took a little fun out of Christmas morning that year knowing what I had in advance...

I had this when it first came out too. I think it was grade nine, it even lasted some moves.
The tape is crappy, then and now, and I felt that Kirk's chair should turn. One year, after grade twelve, I was moving in with a friend and didn't know what to do with it, as she would probably not accept me having toys. I guess I solved the problem, I stepped on it! I ended up throwing it away, but I did keep my figures, including the aliens.

Good review Sallah! After looking over those closeup pics of Spock's face, they look much better than i remembered it looking, even though i have a couple of these loose that i see everyday and at least one MOC in a packing box. The small scale prevents you from appreciating the likeness unless you pull out the magnifying glass or take up close photos. After pulling out my magnifying glass, it does appear to be a very good likeness of Leonard Nimoy, obscured partly by the bad paint apps on mine. The paint apps on these figures were not the best, almost to the point of being quite sloppy on some of them. I wonder if there is a customizer who could take one of these and put a properly detailed paint app that would bring out the likeness the way HunkyArtist brought out the AA Nemesis Picards outstanding likeness after putting on a properly applied paint job.

I wonder if the original mold for it is in storage somewhere. Reuse the mold but make it with more durable plastic etc. No sticky tape!

That's just a cool looking figure ! Too bad most of the alien figures are so rare they go for a flipper and tail on the secondary market .

At one time i would probably have been the type to say i was a Mego purist, having experienced the height of the Mego empire of Action figures back in the 70's, but now with the excellent reissues and upgrades of some of them i am not a Mego purist anymore. I think i am perfectly happy to own a DST Romulan and dont care about getting a Original Mego Romulan unless it was inexpensive enough to afford without having to win the lottery or take out a second mortgage to pay for it. The reissues are just so good that only people with considerable wealth and a completist mentality should even worry about having an original Andorian or Romulan. Thanks Sallah for the review, it was very comprehensive and i like the comparisons between the original Mego and the DST reissues.
