Great episode, entirely predictable, but still very enjoyable.

Well, this is interesting:

"Then there is Fox favorite Seth MacFarlane, the creator of animated powerhouse “Family Guy” and the live-action sci-fi series “The Orville,” on which MacFarlane also stars. MacFarlane’s deal is up in June, and the major streamers and studios are all said to be courting him."

I will laugh my butt off if the Orville moves behind a paywall as exclusive content.

Seriously. No one would care so long as it's Netflix. But if Disney keeps it, they'll most likely put it on Hulu, not Disney+.

The question is if they'll keep it going without MacFarlane. It's not like his acting is the lynchpin for the success of the show. Most of the creatives are from Star Trek, aren't they?

Paramount kept Trek going without Roddenberry's involvement. If Disney puts any value on this show, they'll do the same with The Orville.

I agree that McFatlane wont win any beat actor awards... but his style has kinda grown on me... its campy and it kinda reminds me of Sharner. I kinda like him as capt Mercer.

Oh and to be sure there will be a small but loud contingent that will be upset if its put behind a paywall... but I agree it wont matter to the success or failure of the show... it could be good for it.

Letting a show like this off its broadcast network leash could only be good for it, in my opinion.

Imagine a parody of "Patterns of Force" but instead of an alien culture learning from Nazis they learned from Tarantino films.

How about with musicals?  Imagine a planet of people breaking into a musical interlude in the middle of negotiations... seemingly at random.

I can see MacFarlane taking full advantage of that scenario but he wouldn't need to leave network television to do it.

Man! I really think The Orville has come into its own. The season finale may have felt like a cross between Star Trek and Firefly... but I found it completely enjoyable. Heck it even channeled Star Wars.

MacFarlane has managed to really develop the characters and their relationships... they've seem to have put in some effort to get basic science (e.g. black hole event horizon). The show may have started out a bit rocky and season 1 left me on the fence about the show, but season 2 hit it out of the ballpark imo.

The Orville has taken top spot as my fav sci-fi show....  I can't wait for more... and if Disney wants to get me to pay for it... I probably will.

Bwahahaha! yep. Not there... laughed off!

The reason its funny is due to all the Trek Fans that were sooooo upset that Trek went behind the paywall... and many of them latched on to Orville... and pointed that it was still free to watch!  So now they have to pay for that too.

But I think this is good news for Orville, as budget constraints by what you can spend for free TV are now out the window... maybe it will translate to a few more episodes per season? maybe not?
